USB97C210 Win98 Drivers Version 2.11

The drivers supplied with this distribution are for Windows 98 only. Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Mac OS 10 have built in driver support for the USB97C210.

To install the USB97C210, you need only plug it into a free USB port on the host. The "Found New Hardware" wizard will appear. Follow the instructions and select the system defaults, except for Windows 98, where you should follow the instructions in the "ReadMe.txt" file on this CD, in folder "Windows98"

Your operating system must be at the following revision level:
	Windows 98 Second Edition
	Windows Millenium Edition
	Windows 2000, Service Pack 3
	Windows XP, Service Pack 1
	Mac OS 10.1.5 (10.2.2 recommended)
You can obtain the latest Windows revisions at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
On a Mac, go to System Preferences - Software Update - Check Now

High Speed USB 2.0 allows a transfer rate of up to 480 Megabits per second (Mbs), 40 times faster than full speed USB 1.1 at 12 Mbs. The USB97C210 will take the speed of the USB port provided. With USB 2.0, the transfer rate is usually limited by the read or write speed of the Flash Memory card.

For High Speed USB 2.0, your computer must be equipped with USB 2.0 hardware, all hubs in the chain must be USB 2.0, and the Operating system must be at USB 2.0. Hardware built before April 2002 is usually USB 1.1. If your computer has USB 1.1 ports built in, you can purchase USB 2.0 plug-in cards from any electronics supplier. The following operating systems support USB 2.0:
Windows 2000 with Microsoft USB Driver Version 5.1.2600.0
	Windows XP SP1 or higher
	Mac OS 10.2.2 or higher

Change History:

v1.40- Modified the Windows 98 driver to prevent application removal of a child PDO which causes the OS to crash.

v1.70- The Windows 98 port driver now automatically retries on write failures if returned request sense value is 2,4,8.

In Windows 98 on a STALL, the pipe is now only reset once. Previous versions attempted to reset the pipe twice, which caused problems with the USBD.sys driver.

Reversed the previous change in v1.40 to again allow removal of the child PDO in Windows 98.

v1.80- Added support for the Mode Sense 10 command which was implemented in the USB97C210 firmware in versions 0.0.0.57 and later. This command was implemented to add functionality in Mac OS 9.x.

v1.90- Minor bug fixes to improve the performance of the Windows 98 driver during suspend and resume operations.

v2.00- Fixes bug in Windows 2000 where the verify command would fail with DOS file copies "copy /v".

Note: If you are using any USB97C210 firmware version 0.0.0.57 or later with Windows 2000 you must use a Windows 2000 driver version 1.80 or later. Previous versions of the driver do not support the Mode Sense 10 command implemented in the firmware and will not function correctly with the latest firmware in Windows 2000.

v2.10- Made a small change to the Windows 98 driver to accomodate future enhancements to the USB97C210.

v2.11- Dropped the Windows 2000 driver, and updated this readme file and the readme in the Windows98 folder. Windows 2000 with SP3 does not require an external driver.
