Contour Perfit Mouse USB README File ____________________________________________________________ 1. BEFORE YOU BEGIN To update an existing Contour USB Mouse driver set, follow the instructions for a first time install. Removing the existing driver is not necessary. NOTE: The USB mouse driver requires Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP. Windows 95 and NT are not supported. Other mouse software may interfere with installation or use of the Contour Mouse driver, and should be removed for best results: - From the Start menu, select Settings, Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. - Select any mouse software that appears on the list. - Click Add/Remove to remove the mouse software. Restart Windows and confirm that only the standard Mouse Properties pages are present: Windows 98: Buttons, Pointers, Motion Windows ME: Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options Windows 2000: Buttons, Pointers, Motion, Hardware Windows XP: Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, (Wheel), Hardware If other pages remain, check your existing mouse documentation for removal instructions. ____________________________________________________________ 2. DRIVER INSTALLATION For best results, start by connecting the Contour Mouse to any available USB port, and allow Windows to install its default driver. Windows ME, 2000 and XP do this automatically. Windows 98 displays the Add New Hardware Wizard which asks you where to look for drivers. Do not supply the driver disk at this time. Just accept the standard search without options (no floppy drive, CD- ROM or user specified location). In some cases, you may be prompted to insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM for necessary system files. After Windows installs the default USB driver, the mouse will be operational. You can then upgrade your installation to use the enhanced Contour driver set: NOTE: Installing Windows 2000 or XP drivers requires system-adminstrator security privileges. - Insert the driver disk in your floppy drive. - From the Start menu, select Run, type "A:\SETUP" and click OK. - Follow the prompts to install the driver. ____________________________________________________________ 3. EXPLORING THE CONTOUR MOUSE SETTINGS - Double-click the mouse icon in the taskbar tray to open Mouse Properties. NOTE: To check the Contour Mouse driver version, right click the tray icon and select About Mouse. - The same driver supports both left handed and right handed Contour Mouse models. To change the Buttons page graphics to match your mouse, double-click the Left.Reg or Right.Reg file on the driver disk. (These files also appear in the installation directory on your hard drive, usually C:\Windows\Contour). The change will take effect the next time you open Mouse Properties. - Context help is available for all controls on the Contour Mouse pages. Click "?" in the title bar followed by the item of interest, or right-click the item and select "What's This?". - When you are satisfied with your settings, click OK to close Mouse Properties. ____________________________________________________________Download Driver Pack
