DRIVER'S UPDATE PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS 2000 B3. DRIVER'S UPDATE PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS XP ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A1. INFOTRONIC BOARD'S INSTALLATION PROCEDURE for WINDOWS 2000 ============================================================== After having installed Microsoft Windows 2000 in VGA mode (640x480), power down the computer and insert the Infotronic graphic board in any PCI slot. Then follows the below suggested procedure. NOTE 1: If the PC includes a graphics chipset on motherboard, the Windows 2000 Plug&Play could detect it and could install automatically the driver for it. If this happens, let the system accomplish the installation for the native chipset, then wait for a while before the messages described at point 1 are shown. NOTE 2. In some rare cases the presence of previously installed graphics controller on the AGP or on the PCI bus of specific computers can disable the Infotronic Quasar board. It is possible to fix the problem moving the dip switch 1 on the Quasar board, which is by default ON, to OFF. NOTE 3. In some cases when using specific computers with graphics chipset on motherboard, the Installation Wizard is not displayed on the Infotronic VGA, but only on the native VGA. In fact the Infotronic VGA will stop displaying the Windows 2000 boot, but the latter continues on the native graphics. In order to accomplish the above described procedure, it is required to temporarily connect the display monitor to the native graphics. After executing the installation procedure and a shutdown/restart, reconnect the display monitor to the Infotronic board. 1. When booting Windows 2000 the Installation Wizard will automatically start displaying the following messages : Found New Hardware Wizard Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard .......... The wizard helps you install a device driver for a hardware device To continue, click Next. 2. After clicking Next, the following message will appear: This wizard will complete the installation for this device: ? Video Controller ... (this message occurs only for a QUASAR and a JUPITER board) ? PCI Device (this message occurs only for a ONIX board) What do you want the wizard to do? o Search for suitable driver for my device (recommended) o Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver 3. Select: Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver Then click Next. 4. At next window select: Display Adapters then press Next 5. At next window click on : Have Disk then insert the Infotronic driver's diskette, specify the source drive (normally a:) and press OK 6. At next window choose within the shown list the graphic board you are using. If you do not know the name of the board you are using, please refer to the label present on the back of the board. For your information, QUASAR is the name of the latest generation of Infotronic graphics boards. The Jupiter and ONIX/IMS4 boards can be still listed for reason of back compatibility. Then press Next. 7. At next window, the following messages will appear : Found new hardware wizard Start device driver installation .... Press Next. 8. At next window, the following messages will appear : Digital Signature not found The software you are about to install does not contain a Microsoft ..... Do you want to continue installation? Click Yes 9. At next window, the following message will appear: Copying the files... NOTE: If some files are already present on the hard disk, please confirm to overwrite them with the driver's ones. At the end click on Finish. 10. At next window, the following message will appear: Do you want to restart the computer now? Close all open applications, remove the driver diskette and restarts the computer, so that the new driver can take effect. NOTE. When using Infotronic graphics boards with the VGA passthrough, after the above described installation is done, the following procedure must be followed: 1. select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings 2. two boards will be shown : the non Infotronic VGA controller and the Infotronic board 3. select the Infotronic board, then, using the right mouse button, attach and make primary the Infotronic board 4. disable the non Infotronic VGA controller A2. INFOTRONIC MONITOR'S INSTALLATION PROCEDURE for WINDOWS 2000 ================================================================ If the Infotronic attached monitor supports the DDC protocol and the used board is a QUASAR board, the detected monitor will be described in the related Monitor page (reachable at Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor ) with "Plug and Play Monitor". A2.1 To install the monitor driver please follow the procedure below: --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Open Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor > Properties > Driver 2. Click on Update driver 3. The Update Wizard will automatically start displaying the following message : Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver and NEXT ... 4. After clicking Next, the following message will appear: What do you want the wizard to do? o Search for suitable driver for my device (recommended) o Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver Select: Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver and NEXT ... 5. At next window click on : Have Disk Then insert the Infotronic driver's diskette, specify the source drive (normally a:) and press OK (Windows searches for the file infomon.inf) 6. At next window choose within the shown list the monitor you are using. L2130 is a last generation LCD monitor able to display 1600x1200 resolution. C10021 is a CRT monitor able to display 1600x1200 resolution at 100 Hz. If you do not know the name of the monitor you are using, please refer to the label present on the back of the monitor. and NEXT ... 7. At next window, the following messages will appear : Digital Signature not found The software you are about to install does not contain a Microsoft ..... Do you want to continue installation? Click Yes ... 8. At next window, the following message will appear: Copying the files... and FINISH. 9. Close all open windows. This is necessary that Windows can refresh the window content and that the new driver can take effect. When you reopen the display properties window, you will get as monitor name that what you have selected under point 7. A2.2 If the attached monitor does not support the DDC protocol ---------------------------------------------------------------- If the attached monitor does not support the DDC protocol Windows 2000 detects the monitor as "Default Monitor" and you will get the Default VESA resolution modes. If you use the QUASAR board, the monitor driver installation is the same as described for "Plug and Play Monitors". If the used boards are ONIX or Jupiter boards, Windows 2000 detects all monitors as Default Monitor. To change the Monitor Type use the tool provided in the Infotronic page present in the Display applet of the Control Panel. Note : If the used boards are ONIX/IMS4 or Jupiter boards please do not use the Windows 2000 Monitor tab. A3. INFOTRONIC BOARD'S INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS XP ============================================================== After having installed Microsoft Windows XP in VGA mode, power down the computer and insert the Infotronic graphic board in any PCI slot. After clicking Next, the following message will appear: Please choose your search and installation options. o Search for the best driver in these locations .... o Don`t search. I will choose the driver to install. .... 3. Select: Don`t search. I will choose the driver to install. Then click Next. 4. At next window select : Display adapters then Click Next 5. At next window click on : Have Disk then insert the Infotronic driver's diskette, specify the source drive (normally a:) and press OK 6. At next window choose within the shown list the graphic board you are using. If you do not know the name of the board you are using, please refer to the label present on the back of the board. For your information, QUASAR is the name of the latest generation of Infotronic graphics boards. The Jupiter and ONIX/IMS4 boards can be still listed for reason of back compatibility. Then press Next. 7. At next window, the following messages will appear : Hardware installation .... After clicking Next, the following message will appear: Please choose your search and installation options. o Search for the best driver in these locations .... o Don`t search. I will choose the driver to install. .... 6. Select: Don`t search. I will choose the driver to install. Then click Next. 7. At next window click on : Have Disk Then insert the Infotronic driver's diskette, specify the source drive (normally a:) and press OK (Windows searches for the file infomon.inf) 8. At next window choose within the shown list the monitor you are using. L2130 is a last generation LCD monitor able to display 1600x1200 resolution. A4.2 If the attached monitor does not support the DDC protocol ---------------------------------------------------------------- If the attached monitor does not support the DDC protocol Windows XP detects the monitor as "Default Monitor" and you will get the Default VESA resolution modes. If you use the QUASAR board, the monitor driver installation is the same as described for "Plug and Play Monitors". If the used boards are ONIX or Jupiter boards, Windows XP detects all monitors as Default Monitor. Note : If the used boards are ONIX, IMS4 or Jupiter boards please do not use the Windows Monitor tab. B1. HOW TO SELECT THE BOARD IN THE WINDOWS SYSTEM MANAGEMENT ============================================================ 1. If the INFOTRONIC graphics board and its driver have been properly installed, the device is displayed in the Display Adapters tree of the Device Manager as one of these items: INFOTRONIC QUASAR INFOTRONIC DOBLO INFOTRONIC JUPITER INFOTRONIC ONIX/IMS4 2. If the Infotronic driver was not installed before, during the hardware auto detection procedures the QUASAR board will be named as "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)". If you need to install the driver without using the Windows installation wizards, or if you have interrupted the installation or the auto detection wizards, you need to choose the "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" device to properly install the Infotronic driver. Note that in case you want to use the "Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" and the "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" device is present in the window labeled with "Choose a Hardware Device", but you select "Add a new device" to run the driver's installation , instead of running the installation over the "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)", you will get a failed installation. In this case remove all installed devices, reboot the system and restart the procedure. B2. DRIVER'S UPDATE PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS 2000 =================================================== 1. There are many different ways to update the driver in Windows 2000, but in any case you must access the Properties of the Graphics Adapter. The most common way is to select : Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Setting Tab > Advanced > Adapter Tab > Properties You can reach the Display Adapter properties also selecting : Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Display Adapter tree > Infotronic adapter then with the right mouse button select "Properties" 2. Select the Driver tab and click the "Update Driver" button, which will start the "Update Device Driver Wizard". 3. Click NEXT ... on the welcome window. 4. At next window the following message will be displayed in case of QUASAR board : This wizard upgrades drivers for the following hardware device: Infotronic QUASAR .... What do you want the wizard to do? o Search for suitable driver for my device (recommended) o Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver Select the second one : "Display a list of know drivers for this device so that I can chose a specific driver". Then click NEXT ... IMPORTANT NOTE. In order to safely install the updated driver select this way and not the automatic way proposed by Windows ( "Search for suitable driver for my device"). This way in fact will guarantee you against pre-existing inf installation files in the hard disk or pre-specified locations. 5. At next window ("Select A Device Driver") click the "Have Disk" button. A browser window will open and you will need to specify the driver location. Windows looks for a file called infotrnt.inf. If your updated driver is on a diskette specify the related floppy drive letter. Then click OK ... 6. Next, you will be back again to the "Select A Device Driver" window, where you need to select the appropriate graphics board. Then click NEXT ... 7. Click NEXT ... on the "Start Device Driver Installation" window 8. Now you will be prompted to confirm the installation. Click YES ... 9. The driver is now updated. 10. In the last window, labeled as "Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard", click FINISH ... 11. Close all open windows related to the Adapter Properties. After doing that you will be prompted to reboot the system. NOTE: To activate the changes you must reboot the system. B3. You will be back again to the "Select the Device Driver..." window, where you need to select the appropriate graphics board. Note that at that moment Windows looks for a file called infotrnt.inf. Click Have disk, then insert the driver`s diskette and press OK. Then click NEXT ... 7. Now you will be prompted to confirm the installation. Click Continue Anyway ... 8. The driver is now updated. 9. In the last window, labeled as "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard", click FINISH ... 10. Close all open windows related to the Adapter Properties. After doing that you will be prompted to reboot the system. NOTE: To activate the changes you must reboot the system.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
