Helpful Hints <<Install onto Macintosh>> *Tray3 setting When the optional Tray3 is installed on your printer, the Tray3 setting on Macintosh must be changed to "Installed". Even though, the auto setup is performed, the information of Tray3 may be incorrect. <<Memory>> *Data compression When printing a large complex file, the printer may go into the compression mode and may affect the image quality to some degree. Minolta recommends adding more memory when the compression mode occurrs. <<Manual feed>> When you use standard Windows 95 PostScript driver, manual feed function doesn't work correctly. But if you use Adobe PostScript printer driver (AdobePS), this problem will not occur. <<Media type>> *Transparency When you print a document on a transparency, you must select "Transparency" as media type, so that you can obtain quality output. Note that the printing speed slows down to one-third of the normal speed automatically on color printing in order to improve the image quality. *Thick paper When you print a document on a thick paper, you must select "Thick Paper" as media type, so that you can obtain quality output. Note that the printing speed slows down to one-third of the normal speed automatically in order to improve the image quality. *Envelope When you print on an envelope, you must set the flap as underside on manual tray (Tray1) and the printing direction should be identified with that of the application. Generally, the envelopes perform well, but some types may wrinkle. We strongly recommend testing any type of envelope before buying it in large amounts. <<Color matching>> *Color matching on the printer When you perform a color matching on the printer, you select as follows: [Windows 3.1] 1.Check "Match Color Across Printers" on the "PostScript" tab. 2.Select the setting you want as "PS Color Control" on the "Features" tab. [Macintosh] (For this example, we assume the use of "LaserWriter 8.3.x".) 1.Select "Print: PostScript Color Matching" on the "Print Options" dialog. 2.Select "Printer Profile: Printer's Default" on the "Print Options" dialog. 3.Select the setting you want as "PS Color Control" on the "Print Options" dialog. The "PS Color Control" provides five settings. Relative (Photographs) - Provides the high quality for photographic output. Perceptual Color - Provides more vivid output than "Relative (Photographs)". Accurate Color - Reproduces the precise characteristics of each color as closely as possible. Saturation - Provides the vivid output. Presentation Transparency - Is suitable for transparency as media type. Notice: You can't perform the color matching by "PS Color Control" on Windows 95 except using some applications that generates CIE L*a*b* data. *Color matching on the host [Macintosh] (For this example, we assume the use of "LaserWriter 8.3.x".) 1.Select "Print: ColorSync Color Matching" on the "Print Options" dialog. 2.Select "Printer Profile: Minolta Color PageWorks/Pro" on the "Print Options" dialog. <<PCL mode and PS mode>> It is different how to select settings specified below between PCL and PS. When you use PS mode, you must select the appropriate value on, not only the driver, but also the operational panel as well. + media type setting + paper size setting for Tray1 **********************************************************************Download Driver Pack
