The driver (SMC1211.SYS) contained in the directory WIN95 is for
the following SMC1211TX PCI Ethernet adapter:

             SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX) .

The driver (SMC1211.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface
Specification (NDIS) 3.1, and used with Microsoft Windows 95,
Windows 95 OSR2.

(0) Configuring SMC1211TX PCI Adapter Media Mode

   Before Installing your NDIS3 Driver, SMC1211TX adapter can be set
   in Full/Half Duplex mode.(Please reference SET1211.TXT)


(A) Installing NDIS3 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 95
============================================================

    1. Plug SMC1211Tx adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn power ON then boot from Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt  "PCI Ethernet Controller"  in
       "New Hardware Found"  dialog box.
    4. Select  "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer"
       from  "New Hardware Found"  dialog box, then click OK button.
    5. Insert the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette in your floppy drive.
    6. Enter the driver pathname, i.e. A:\ (or B:\), then click OK
       button from  "Install from Disk"  dialog box.
    7. Following the screen's prompt to insert  "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       and click OK button from  "Insert Disk" dialog box.
    8. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       installation files in "Copying Files..."  dialog box,
       then click OK button.
    9. Windows 95 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\WIN95
       to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the SMC1211.INF file
       from A:\ to C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
   10. Remove the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette from your floppy drive.
   11. Restart your computer to take effect the network function.

       NOTICE !! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 95
                 O.S. is located.


(B) Installing NDIS3 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2

    1. Plug SMC1211TX adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn power ON then boot from Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt  "PCI Ethernet Controller"  in
       "New Hardware Found"  dialog box and  "Update Device Driver
       Wizard"  dialog box.
    4. Insert the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette in your floppy drive.
    5. Click "Next >" button from  "Update Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box.
    6. Windows 95 will prompt  "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)."
       in  "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box.
    7. Click "Finish" button from  "Update Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box.
    8. Enter the full pathname A:\ of the SMC1211.INF file, then
       click OK button from  "Copying Files..."  dialog box.
    9. Following the screen's prompt to insert  "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       and click OK button from  "Insert Disk" dialog box.
   10. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM"
       installation files in "Copying Files..."  dialog box,
       then click OK button.
   11. Windows 95 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\WIN95
       to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the SMC1211.INF file from A:\
       to C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
   12. Remove the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette from your floppy drive.
   13. Restart your computer to take effect the network function.

       NOTICE !! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 95 OSR2
                 O.S. is located.



(C) Configuring NDIS3 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 95 (OSR2)

    1. Click the  "My Computer"  icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the  "Control Panel"  icon from My Computer window.
    3. Click the  "Network"  icon from the Control Panel window.
    4. Select  "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)."  item
       from  "Network"  dialog box, then click "Properties" button.
    5. Click "Advanced" button from  "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX).
       Properties"  dialog box.
    6. Select the Line Speed value (AutoDetect, 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps)
       from "Value" item, then click OK button from  "SMC EZ Card
       10/100 (SMC1211TX) Properties"  dialog box.
    7. Click OK button from  "Network"  dialog box.
    8. Restart your computer to take effect the new configuration.

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
