The driver (SMC1211.SYS) contained in the root directory is for
the following SMC PCI Ethernet adapter:

    SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)

The driver (SMC1211.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface
Specification (NDIS) 5.0, and is used with Microsoft Windows 2000,
Windows 98.

(A) Installing NDIS5 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 2000

    1. Plug SMC1211TX adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON then boot into Windows 2000.
    3. Windows 2000 will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)" in
       the "New Hardware Found" dialog box, and Driver will be installed.


    *** Update SMC1211TX NDIS5 Driver form Driver Diskette ***

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.
    3. Click the "System" icon in the Control Panel window.
    4. Select the "Hardware" and "Device Manager.." item
    5. Windows will prompt "devmgmt - [Device Manager on local computer]"
       and select "Network Adapter" Group.
    6. Select "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)" and Double Click .
    7. Windows will prompt "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX) Properties "
       dialog box and select "Driver" Item .
    8. Click "Update Driver ..." Botton in the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)
       Properties " dialog box.
    9. Windows will prompt "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" and click "Next"
       Botton.
   10. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device [recommended] "
       Item in the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box and Click
       "Next" botton.
   11. Select "Specify a location " Item in the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard"
       dialog box and Click "Next" botton.
   12. Insert the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette in your floppy drive ,type Driver
       path "A:\WIN2000" and click "OK" botton.
   13. Windows will prompt inf file path "A:\WIN2000\NETSMC11.INF" in the
       "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box and click "Next" Botton.
   14. Click "Finsh" botton in the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box.


(B) Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98
=================================================================

    1. Plug SMC1211TX adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON, then boot from Windows 98.
    3. When Windows 98 prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       "New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)"
       from the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
       "Next" button.
    5. Insert the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette into your floppy drive.
    6. Select "Specify a location" and type Path "A:\WIN2000" in the
       "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the "Next" button.
    7. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
    8. Windows 98 will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
    9. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then
       Windows 98 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\WIN2000
       to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the NETSMC11.INF file from A:\WIN2000
       to the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
   10. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button.
   11. Remove the SMC1211TX Driver Diskette from your floppy drive.
   12. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 2000
                O.S. is located.


(C) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window.
    4. Select the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)" item
       from the "Network" dialog box, then click the "Properties" button.
    5. Click the "Advanced" button in the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX)
       Properties" dialog box.
    6. Select the Line Speed value (Auto,100full,100half,10full,10half)
       for the "Value" item, then click the OK button in the "SMC EZ
       Card 10/100 (SMC1211TX) Properties" dialog box.
    7. Click the OK button in the "Network" dialog box.
    8. Restart your computer to implement the new configuration.
