Montego Readme

This file will help you get the Montego up and running. 

If you are installing the Montego for the first time, skip step B.
Please note however that if you are installing the Montego for the first time
you will need to install direct X first. The direct X install can be found on the Montego CD.
Navigate to the Direct X directory on the CD and run DXSetup.exe. 
Click on the "reinstall Direct X" button, and reboot when prompted. 
Now you will be able to install the montego and it's drivers.

A. Unzip the "Mtg_1b.zip" file to an empty directory on your hard drive. 

B. If you have the old drivers installed for your Montego, 
you will need to uninstall them first before installing the new drivers. 
   1. Close the Turtle Beach System Tray Launcher
      a. Right-click on the Turtle Beach System Tray Launcher icon and 
         choose Remove Tray. 
   2. From the startmenu go to settings, run the Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove programs.
   3. Choose TBS Montego Drivers and click remove.
   4. A dialog will appear. Click uninstall.

C. Now you can install the new drivers. 

   1. Restart the computer.
   2. When Windows asks for the 'TBS Montego Installation and Driver Disk', 
      simply browse to the directory where the "Mtg_1b.zip" file was unzipped to. 
      You may be prompted again to insert the driver disk. If so just browse
      back to the directory where the "Mtg_1b.zip" file was unzipped.
   3. Windows may ask for the Windows CD. If so you'll need to put the windows CD
      in and browse to the win95 or win98 directory. 
   4. Windows will prompt you again for the location of the Montego drivers.
      Browse back to the directory you unzipped the drivers to.
   5. The install should now be complete.

D. We will now install the demos. 
   1. Put the Montego CD back in the CD drive and run "setup.exe".  
   2. Follow the regular install process.  
   3. Restart the computer. 

Once the computer reboots the Montego will be ready for use.

For Windows NT users:
From the start menu go to settings.
Open the control panel and double-click on the multimedia icon.
Go to the device tab, select the audio device and click on remove.
After removing the existing driver and restarting
you must go to the control panel and click on the multimedia icon again.

Now close the control panel [otherwise the control panel will keep 
the old drivers open, thereby prohibiting you from adding the new ones.]

Go to the device tab, select audio device and click add.
Then choose "unlisted or updated driver" and click OK.
Now point to the directory you uinzipped the "Mtg_1b.zip" file to and click OK.
You will be prompted to restart your machine.
Once the computer reboots the Montego will be ready for use.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
