1. Introduction

   This Ethernet NDIS driver for IBM LAN Server conforms to 3Com/Microsoft
   LAN Manager Network Driver Interface Specification v2.0.1 (Final 1990-
   10-8). It supports IBM LAN Server 3.0/4.0 for DOS environment.


2. Contents of the Subdirectory

      RETH.DOS	      The NDIS2 driver.

      RETH.NIF	      The network information file for NDIS driver.

      OEMSETUP.INF    A setup-information file for installing the Ethernet
		      NDIS driver under IBM LAN Server 4.0.


3. Installation

   First install your PCMCIA Ethernet Card on the PC system following the
   procedure in the Ethernet Adapter installation manual.  Then skip to
   the related section for your specific network application to continue
   installing the NDIS driver.

   * LAN Server 3.0 Installation

   1) Insert "LAN Support Program Install" diskette to drive A: and the
      Ethernet Driver Disk to drive B:.

   2) At the A: prompt, type "DXMAID" and press <Enter>.

   3) When the "Process Adapter Option Diskette" dialog box is displayed,
      replace "A:\DOS" with "B:\IBMLAN.DOS", and press <Enter>.

   4) When the Current Configuration screen appears (as shown below),
      press <Tab> to select Adapter or Protocol window.  Use Up and Down
      arrow keys to move cursor; then press Space bar to select or deselect
      selection.

   5) While at the Current Configuration screen, press <F5> to view/change
      parameters; then, press <F4>.  You can press <Esc> to return without
      saving changes.

   6) Reboot your system.


   * LAN Server 4.0 Installation (Using OEMSETUP.INF with DLS Installation)

   1) Create a directory in the root of your fixed disk to place the OEM
      drivers; for example, C:\RETHCOM.  Then, copy all files from the
      directory \IBMLAN.DOS of the Ethernet Driver Disk to the directory.

   2) Install DOS LAN Services.

   3) When you are prompted to select the type of your network card, select
      "Network card not shown in list below", and then press <Enter>.

   4) Insert the driver diskette where RETH.DOS is located.

   5) Enter the path where the OEMSETUP.INF file is located when prompted
      for. (Type the directory created in step 1.)

   6) When "E2k/E1k/PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter" is displayed, press <Enter> to
      continue.

   7) Insert DOS LAN Services Disk 1 into the floppy drive used and press
      <Enter>.

   8) Check if the settings are correct.

   9) When the installation is completed, press <F3> to exit.  Check if
      NDIS driver (i.e., RETH.DOS) exists in the same directory with your
      DOS LAN Services, such as C:\NET.

      If not, please copy it manually to the directory.

  10) Reboot your system.
