Providing Feedback ======================================================================== 1 Introduction ======================================================================== Thank you for using MediaCVR (Media Receiver), a software suite for the reception and processing of Video, Sound and Data Broadcasts on the Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 95, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 98 platforms. For product documentation, please refer to the file MediaCVR.doc included in this distribution. This Readme.txt file contains notes for applications using the MediaCVR drivers, revision notes and last minute changes. ======================================================================== 2 Installation ======================================================================== MediaCVR software is distributed on a single self-extracting file, e.g. MediaCVR_nVIDIA_v1_72.exe. You can install it as follows: * Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type the full name of the file (for example, D:\MediaCVR\MediaCVR_nVIDIA_v1_72.exe), press the Enter key, and follow the prompts. * Launch the Windows File Manager or Windows Explorer and select the file on the distribution media. Double click on the file name to start the installation. For upgrade follow the installation instructions above. You can install this version of MediaCVR to the same location as a previously installed copy. ======================================================================== 3 Requirements ======================================================================== HARDWARE: -------- This revision of MediaCVR for all nVIDIA Graphics Controllers requires an nVIDIA Graphics Reference Board equipped with RIVA 128, RIVA 128ZX/DX, RIVA TNT, RIVA TNT2 and derivatives Graphics Controllers and a MICRONAS-INTERMETALL TrueVideo97 or TrueTV98 Reference Board connected through a VIP ribbon cable. MediaCVR also supports any other adapter compatible with the above combination. Modification to the ITT.INI or the MICRONAS-INTERMETALL registry entries might be needed for proper operation. SOFTWARE: -------- MediaCVR requires DirectX 5.0 or later to be installed on a Windows 95 machine or DirectX 3.0 or later to be installed on a Windows NT 4.0 machine. ======================================================================== 4 List of Files ======================================================================== File Name Installation Path --------- ----------------- Browser.exe -> \Program Files\MICRONAS-INTERMETALL, GmbH Teletext Browser executable Browser.ini -> \Program Files\MICRONAS-INTERMETALL, GmbH Initial settings for the Teletext Browser VidLet.exe -> \Program Files\MICRONAS-INTERMETALL, GmbH Video Applet VPXInit.exe -> \Program Files\MICRONAS-INTERMETALL, GmbH VPX Video Decoder and I2C Debug Tool Bc450rtl.dll -> \Windows\System Support .DLL for the Teletext Browser i2c_vxd.dll -> \Windows\System Generic I2C Interface, 16-Bit i2c_wow.dll -> \Windows\System Generic I2C Interface, 32-Bit tpu_vpx.dll -> \Windows\System Teletext TPU Chip Software Emulator vbicap.dll -> \Windows\System VBI capture for Teletext, 16-Bit vbicap32.dll -> \Windows\System VBI capture for Teletext, 32-Bit vpxapi.dll -> \Windows\System VPX Video Decoder API, 16-Bit vpxapi32.dll -> \Windows\System VPX Video Decoder API, 32-Bit vpxcap.drv -> \Windows\System VfW Capture Driver vpxcapdg.dll -> \Windows\System VfW Capture Driver User Dialog Boxes vpxnvks.vxd -> \Windows\System nVIDIA specific module. This eliminates the magenta flashes on reinitialzing size or format - CC performance from a macrovision source improved - CC Display will work now, even if Intercast or WaveTop is not installed - Recover from lost surfaces in capture driver v1.71 - Fixed Automatic Channel Scanning for WaveTop and Intercast v1.72 - Added support for all RIVA TNT2 derivatives ======================================================================== 6 VidLet Release Notes ======================================================================== v1.66 - Added Closed Captioning support with scalable fonts - Added Active Video Detection of video plugged/unplugged - VidLet is using dark magenta as color key for overlay on graphics. Current revision of the RIVA TNT Display Drivers are dithering this color during blitting. This results in a non uniform key area and therefore the video is intermixed with graphics. This problems occures only on certain display color modes and should be fixed soon by nVIDIA. v1.67 - Optimized Closed Captioning and VBI decoding performance - Improved Closed Captioning Display - Compatibility with Telecaptioning 1/2/3 - Worked around the color key problem of v1.66 v1.68 - CC-Decoder reset on too many parity errors - Horizontal cropping on all Platforms (configurable with itt.ini) - On disabling the overlay paint the window black. This eliminates the magenta flashes on reinitialzing size or format - CC performance from a macrovision source improved - CC Display will work now, even if Intercast or WaveTop is not installed - Recover from lost surfaces in capture driver v1.71 - VidLet does not minimize on Tuner source v1.72 - Added support for all RIVA TNT2 derivatives ======================================================================== 7 Teletext Browser Release Notes ======================================================================== v1.0 - Release version, no new versions are planned ======================================================================== 8 Notes for Microsoft NetMeeting users ======================================================================== NetMeeting v2.0 and v2.1 uses a database of optimal seetings for registered video cards. If this card is not a registered one then NetMeeting will default to sub-optimal settings overriding the defaults of the capture driver. To overcome the problem you have to install the capture driver after the NetMeeting installation. ======================================================================== 9 Notes for Intel Intercast ne WavePhore WaveTop users ======================================================================== The MediaCVR Capture Driver has been tested on Intel Intercast 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.5/1.6 and 2.0/2.1 and WavePhore WaveTop 1.0 for Windows 95, no problems have been reported so far. ======================================================================== 10 Providing Feedback ======================================================================== We are sincerely interested on your feedback on the MediaCVR drivers.
