FEATURES ============ MSP3880 Series Modems are featured to support Voice and SpeakerPhone under TAPI mode ONLY. It does not support under Non-TAPI mode. For more information on TAPI, please visit Microsoft Website. 1. The SpeakerPhone feature of the V-U/V-W product works with sound card and TAD connector. A proper TAD cable connects the modem and the sound card through the TAD connectors. 2. The MSP3880 products support the Answering Machine. Playback of greeting message will be heard by the remote end. However, unlike the SP-U/SP-W/SP-A products, the V-U/V-W products can only perform SpeakerPhone feature when used with a sound card via a TAD connector. The SP-U/SP-W products can perform this feature stand-alone. 3. Playing of recorded messages requires a sound card. 4. This product is compatible to any Windows 95 platform. It is not meant for Windows 3.x and DOS platform. 5. This product is compatible to Windows NT 4.0. Modem only supports Data and Fax capabilities. All voice features are not supported. 6. Silent Detection is currently not supported in this release. 7. Windows DOS Terminal Emulation is supported. Due to the PCI way of assigning IRQ to the Modem, please do not use old DOS applications in WINDOWS 95 DOS Emulation Box. Try to use Up-To-Date DOS applications such as PROCOMM PLUS - Version 2.0 etc. To setup DOS Box support, please check the DOS Support Box under Modem Properties for this feature. 8. MSP3880 Modems are bundled with application software to support user. To ensure smooth installation, it is required to insert the MSP3880 Installation CD which is followed by a Pop-Up Menu to ease all possible installation. 9. Microphone Jack This is for the purpose of connecting the microphone into it. Using the microphone, you can speak to your friends. 10. Line Jack The line out actually allows you to connect your speaker to it; to listen to the handshaking sound of the modem. Alternatively, you can connect the minijack provided from the Line-Out of the modem to the Line-In of the sound card. In this case, you will only need to connect the speaker to the sound card. 11. The minimum system required is a 16MB Pentium 166MHz MMX System. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- B. WINDOWS 98 INSTALLATION =========================== 1. Windows 98 will automatically detect "PCI Comunication Devices". Click "Next" to continue. "PCI Communication Devices" will be prompted by all MSP3880. 2. Insert the MSP3880 Modem Installation CD provided into the CD ROM Drive. 3. Select "Search for the best drivers for your device. (Recommended)" and click "Next" to continue. 4. Enable "Specify a Location" selection and type in "D:\Win9x" (assuming D: the CD ROM Drive) , click "Next" to continue. 5. Modem Driver will be found on the MSP3880 Installation CD. Click "Next" to continue. 6. Click "Finish" to complete modem installation. 7. System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and files needed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- C. WINDOWS 95 OSR2 INSTALLATION ================================ 1. Windows 95 will automatically detect "PCI Communication Devices". Click "Next" to continue in the "Upgrade Driver Wizard" dialog box. "PCI Communication Devices" will be prompted by all MSP3880 models. 2. Insert the MSP3880 Installation CD provided into the CDROM Drive. 3. Click "Next" and the system will search for an updated driver. 4. Click "Finish" to use the updated driver. 5. Click "Ok" when prompted to insert the installation disk. 6. Change path to D:\Win9x (assuming the CDROM Drive is at D:) and click OK. 7. System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and files needed. 8. Please reboot the system if prompted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. WINDOWS 95 & WINDOWS 95 SR1 INSTALLATION ============================================ 1. Windows 95 will automatically detect the PCI Modem and displays the "New Hardware Found" dialog box. 2. Insert the MSP3880 Installation CD provided into the CDROM Drive. 3. Select the "Driver from disk provided by Hardware manufacturer option" and click OK. 4. Type the path to the Drive, eg. "D:\Win9x" (where your CDROM Drive is assigned) in the combo box and click OK. For Windows 95 SR1, type the Drive, eg. "D:\Win9X" (where your CDROM Drive is assigned) in the combo box and click OK. To determine whether your system is using Win95 SR1, proceed to Control Panel/System Properties. You will see "Microsoft Windows 95 4.00.950a". After loading the PCI modem device, if you encounter resource conflicts (especially when there are non-Plug & Play adaptors installed in your system), please follow the steps below to alter the resource configuration : 1. Go to Control Panel - System - Device Manager and click on "Modem". 2. Choose the modem device and click on "Properties". You can change the settings to resolve the conflict device. WINDOWS NT4.0 INSTALLATION ============================== When running in Windows NT environment, take note that modem only supports Data and Fax features. Speakerphone and Voice features are not supported. 1. Start Windows NT 4.0. 2. Insert the Installation CD into the CDROM Drive. 3. Type "D:\Winnt40" and "Browse" to the model of your Modem and run "SETUP.EXE" (Assuming the CDROM Drive is at D:). 4. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the software installation. 5. Restart your system after the installation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- F. HOW TO USE THE SPEAKERPHONE FEATURE? ======================================== 1. For the V-U/V-W boards, make sure you have a sound card properly installed in the system. 2. Locate the TAD connector of your sound card and the modem. 3. Connect these TAD connectors using a TAD cable. 4. Connect your Microphone to the MIC-In jack of your sound card. 5. Connect your Speakers to the Line-Out/Speaker-Out of your sound card. 6. You are ready for the speakerphone usage. 7. No sound card is needed for the SP-U/SP-W/SP-A boards for speakerphone usage. However, a sound card can still be used via the TAD connector. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- G. WHAT IS A TAD? ================== TAD stands for Telephone Answering Device. Most modems and sound cards nowadays comes with a built-in TAD connector. Reasons are as follows : 1. It establishes a link between the sound card and the modem internally. 2. It allows user to leave the Microphone connection on the sound card, while the same Microphone can be use during speakerphone conversation. 3. It allows user to leave the Speaker connection on the sound card, while the same Speakers can be use for any modem audio output. MODEM TAD PIN CONFIGURATION =========================== PIN 1 --- Line-Out to Sound card PIN 2 --- Ground PIN 3 --- NC PIN 4 --- Mic-In from Sound Card -------------------------------------------------------------------------- H. UNIMODEM DRIVERS INSTALLATION ================================= Unimodem drivers are to be installed to ensure that voice feature is supported by the modem. Unimodem is only to be installed in Windows 95, Windows 95 SR1 and Windows 95 SR2 environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. How to install Microsoft Fax in Windows 98? =============================================== If you are staying in US, go to directory D:\Tools\oldwin95\message\us in Windows 98 installation CD. For other countries, go to D:\Tools\oldwin95\message\intl 1. First run wms.exe under the directory to install Microsoft Messaging. 2. Next run awfax.exe under the same directory to install Microsoft Fax. For further information on Microsoft Messaging and Microsoft Fax, read wms-fax.txt under the same directory in Windows 98 CD. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- J. WINDOWS 98 RELATED ISSUE. ============================= User may encounter problem such as modem cannot dial out under Windows 98. Please close all modem applications and restart the Windows. Make sure you have connected the Phone Line before re-running the application again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- K. HOW TO UNINSTALL MODEM? =========================== Product is installed with Uninstall Program allowing user to remove modem completely from the system. To perform an un-installation, proceed to Control Panel / Add/Remove Program icon. To complete, you need to remove both "MSP3880-U/V-U/SP-U/-W/V-W/SP-W/SP-A 56K Modem" and "MSP3880-U/V-U/SP-U/-W/V-W/SP-W/SP-A 56K Modem Files". ------- The End ---------Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
