- Australia: TPH1962
B-Channel Protocols Supported
-----------------------------
- Bit Transparent
- HDLC Transparent
- ISO 7776 (X.75 SLP)
- T.90 NL with compatibility T.70 NL
- ISO 8208 (X.25 DTE-DTE)
- X.31
- T.30 for FAX group 3
- T.30 for FAX group 3 with extensions
- V.110 asynchronous operation
(auto detect 9600 Bit/s, 19200 Bit/s, 38400 Bit/s)
- V.110 synchronous operation (56 kBit/s)
- V.120 asynchronous mode
- Modem V.34 (max. 28800 Bit/s)
For support of FAX group 3 functionality and Modem
emulation the minimum requirements are a 90MHz
Pentium processor (133MHz recommended) and 16MB
main memory.
The driver supports FAX sending and receiving with
max. 14400 Bit/s on both B channels.
The Modem emulation supports a maximum bit rate of
28800 Bit/s on one B channel.
The processor load is important for error free FAX
and Modem transmission. In case of disturbed data
connections please select a lower transmission rate
in your application or avoid the parallel using of
FAX resp. Modem with other applications.
2) Installation
============
In a Windows 95/98 enviroment the DataFire boards
are automatically detected by the hardware wizard.
To install the driver software for the DataFire adapter simply
follow the steps displayed on the screen.
For further details please refer to the manual for your DataFire board.
To install the card driver software manually, open the 'Network'
applet in control panel, click on 'Add' and select
'Network Adapter' from the list. In the opened dialog,
click on 'Have Disk', browse to the folder where the
installation files are located (e.g. 'a:') and click on 'OK'.
Select your DataFire adapter from the list and follow the
installation instructions.
If you want to configure the adapter (concerning the
D-Channel protocol), open the 'Network' applet in control panel,
select your DataFire adapter and click on 'Properties'.
For detailed information about settings see the manual.
3) Update of drivers
=================
If you want to update the installed driver please follow the
following steps.
The already installed ISDN card driver is important for the
update procedure.
If the currently used driver is a version
before the version 2.50, then it is a ITK Version of the driver.
You have to deinstall this driver first and reboot your system before
you can install the new driver.
For the deinstallation please proceed as follows:
Go to the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, select the ISDN card
driver, click on the button "Remove" and follow the upcoming dialogs.
After you have deinstalled the old driver and installed the new driver
you have to install the Digi ISDN Tools. If you do not install this
tools you can not use Columbus software without problems.
You can find the Digi ISDN Tools on the Digi driver CD under the point
"Additional components" or download these tools from the Digi Webserver.
If your currently installed driver is a version 2.50 or higher (Digi Version)
you can update the driver without deinstalling the driver as follows:
Go to the Device Manager of Windows 95/98 and select the installed Digi ISDN card.
In the properties of the card under the tab "Driver" click on the button
"Update driver". Specify in the upcoming dialog the path where the new driver
is located and follow the installation procedure as described in chapter 2.
4) CAPI2.0 Driver
==============
The Windows9x CAPI 2.0 Interface supports 16 bit
programs (CAPI20.DLL), 32 bit programs (CAPI2032.DLL)
and device drivers (vcapid.vxd). The DOS interface
(INT F1) is not supported in this version.
The driver supports removing and plugging of PCMCIA cards
while the system is runnning. It also provides standby-modus
and docking-station support.
5) WAN Miniport Driver
===================
If you are using Windows 95b and the Wan Miniport Driver
it is recommended to install the Dialup Network 1.3 and
reboot your PC before you install the Wan Miniport Driver.
The Dialup Network 1.3 can be installed from the Digi
"Access Resource" CD under the point "Additional Components".
All board specific configuration items must be adjusted via
the extra property pages provided by the ISDN board
configuration.
The following features are included with this version:
- connect as a remote node to a RAS server (either
Windows NT or Windows 95)
- allow dial in as a Windows 95 RAS server
- Since Microsoft supports only one ISDN connection at
a time under Windows 95, it is not possible to
connect to more than one destination concurrently.
- Microsoft supports the dial-up to a RAS server with
PPP-Multilink support making use of 2 B channels for one
logical connection. This has been tested.
- No support of multiple ISDN adapters; due to the above
mentioned restrictions, this is not very important, anyway.
- Support of "Accepted MSN" to specify calls to which
MSN should be accepted. If your ISDN line supports
more than one MSN you can specify on which MSN calls
will be accepted. This may be useful if more than one
ISDN application is listening on the same line.
- Support of "Own MSN" to specify which MSN is calling
on generating a call.
- Support of different B-channel protocols. Choose between
HDLC-transparent (default) or X.75. This setting will be
used for all ISDN connections over the WAN Miniport.
6) Digi ISDN COM-Port Driver
=========================
The Digi ISDN COM-Port Driver can be installed from
the Digi "Access Resource" CD under the point "Additional
Components".
If you are using Windows 95b and the Digi COM-Port Driver
it is recommended to install the Dialup Network 1.3 and
reboot your PC before you install the Digi ISDN-Port Driver.
The Dialup Network 1.3 can be installed from the Digi
"Access Resource" CD under the point "Additional Components".
With the ISDN COM-Port you are able to use software which
requires a COM-Port or a Windows modem to access the ISDN
Card.
The ISDN COM-Port offers easy access to AOL, CompuServe,
T-Online, Bulletin Board Systems or your Internet service
provider.
You will find further information about installation and
configuration of ISDN-Ports and ISDN-Modems in the program
group "Digi ISDN COM-Port" respectively "Digi ISDN Tools"
or in the file iCom95.pdf in the ISDN-COM Port installation
directory.
7) Notes for using PCMCIA Adapter
==============================
On some notebooks it may be that Windows 95 does not
recognize the PCMCIA adapter while booting the system
if the IDSN cable is plugged into the card.
In this case you should leave the cable pulled off while
booting the system and plug it into the card later.
If you have registered an application on the CAPI interface
you do not need to reregister after having plugged in the
adapter again respectively after wake up from standby-mode.
In this case you should notice that a connection will be
discontinued and needs to set up again.
8) Power Management
================
The Suspend/Resume mode of Windows 98 is supported.
9) Compatibility to 3rd Party Products
===================================
WinFax Pro 9.0 under Windows 95/98 and NT 4.0
---------------------------------------------
While installation of WinFax Pro 9.0 select
"Generic ISDN (CAPI 2.0)" driver.
Please set properties for this driver to
packetsize of 2048 Byte (Default 128 Byte).
10) Known Problems
===============
Under Windows 95/98 some S3 graphic adapters use memory areas
which are beyond the allocated addresses of the PCI BIOS.
This causes problems with other PCI cards like the Micro V
which try to use this addresses. In this case the installation
of the Micro V fails. If you face this problem please contact
your graphic board manufacturer and request a new driver.
