UPGRADING DEVICE DRIVERS FOR
HITACHI HIAE-80/100 PCI 10/100 Base Ethernet LAN Module

NOTES for WINDOWS 95/98 OPERATING SYSTEM
1. The upgrade routine will replace the old INF file in the
C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. The new INF file will also be copied to
   the C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS directory.
In Windows 98, the upgrade routine will place a copy of the new INF
file in the C:\WINDOWS\INF\OTHER directory. The file will have the
manufacturer's name appended to it: MicrosoftNETHIAE.INF

2. The upgrade routine will replace the old HIAEPCI.SYS file in the
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. The new HIAEPCI.SYS file will also be
   copied to the C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS directory.

2. The old driver files within the OS are not deleted. They may exist
   in the following locations:
	C:\HITACHI.PC\DRIVERS\LAN or
	C:\HITACHI.PC\DRIVERS\NETADAPTER

3. As long as the new INF file placed in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory
is not removed, the NIC will re-install itself using the new driver.
If the new INF file in the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory is inadvertently
deleted, then point the OS to the C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS directory.

4. There are slight differences between the upgrade version of the INF
file (v1.1a) and the Gold Master install version of the INF file
(v1.1). Differences are purely installation parameters rather than
   functionality.
