INSTALLATION FILE FOR USB 2.0 PCI HOST ADAPTER CARDS =================================================== !!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!! The driver on this disk is a Win2000 BETA driver. There may be bugs !!! Please, periodically check the Lava Website at www.lavalink.com for updates. At present, there is no support for Win98SE/ME. The drivers for these O/S's are in the works and should be available shortly. Drivers for XP will be native to the O/S and will be available from Microsoft. August 15, 2001 (416) 674-5942 tech@lavalink.com =================================================== Windows 2000 The Lava USB 2.0 Host PCI card does not use a setup utility to install in Windows 2000. Instead, the card is automatically detected by Windows during boot and the New Hardware hardware wizard is run. Windows then searches your hard and floppy drives for an .inf file that includes the setup information for the new hardware. NOTE ON OPERATION: The USB busses are designed for "HOT" Plugging and unplugging. When removing, unplugging the Lava Kazan drive enclosure, follow Window's procedure for removing hardware: - Open the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" wizard by clicking on its icon, which can be found in the Windows System Tray at the bottom right corner of the Windows screen. - Select/Highlight the drive - Click "CLose" - Windows will inform you when it is safe to remove the drive. NOTE: If you not properly unplug your devices from the USB 2.0 PCI Host Adapter, a message indicating the presence of an "Unknown Device" may appear causing improper subsequent installation. To restore the device follow these steps: 1. Power off the device. 2. Enter Device Manager|Universal Serial Bus controllers and remove the "Unknown device". 3. Delete the files unknown.inf and unknown.pnf from the \winnt\inf directory. 4. Power up the device and the system will find and recognize/reinstall the device.
