This directory contains utilities for use with the EPIC adpaters.


Cardbus enablers
----------------
This utilities program the PCI to cardbus bridge in the host and 
configuration space of the SMSC cardbus card itselfto enable access 
to cardbus cards in DOS based systems. They should NOT be used in 
Windows 9X or NT environments.

BRIDGE.COM      -   For use with cardbus ethernet/modem EVBs. 
                    (Enables both functions)
SMCCARDB.EXE    -   For use with cardbus EVBS. In ethernet/modem cards it
                    enables only the Ethernet function.

Low Level Diagnostic Utility
----------------------------
DIAG.EXE        -   This utliity allows multiple low level tests. Works with 
                    all EVBs but cardbus cards have to be enabled prior to
                    using DIAG.
DIAG.HLP        -   Help file with DIAG's command listing and explanation.
PX.EXE          -   This is a public domain utility that allows you to access
                    configuration space of PCI cards. Under DOS cardbus cards 
                    have to be enabled before running PX

EEPROM programming
------------------
EPICPROM.EXE    -   This utility allows you to reprogram the EEPROM present
                    in PCI EVBs.

Flash programming
-----------------
FLASH.ZIP       -   ASM files used to create binary images of the contents
                    of the flashes present in the cardbus cards.
FLASH.TXT       -   Procedure used to program the flash on cardbus cards.

PHY configuration
-----------------
MIIPHY.EXE      -   Utility that allows access to the PHY's registers of an 
                    MII compliant PHY connected to an EPIC or FEAST SMSC MAC.
                    When using cardbus cards they should be enabled before 
                    running MIIPHY

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
