******************************Installing the Modem******************************
Follow these instructions to install the modem device drivers for Windows ME/2000/98/95/NT4.0:

Windows ME/2000/98/95
1. Insert the driver CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Start, Settings, then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click the System icon. Click the Device Manager tab.
4. Under "Other Devices" select PCI Device and then click Properties.
5. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. The upgrade wizard starts.
6. Click Next. Click the radio button next to "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (Recommended)."
7. Click Next. Check the box next to "Specify a location." 
8. Click Browse and browse to the \DRIVERS\MODEM directory on your driver CD-ROM, and then browse to the folder corresponding to your operating system. Select the MDMHAMRW.INF file.
9. Click Next. Follow the instructions on the screen. You are prompted to insert your Windows 98SE installation CD-ROM. The Update Device Driver Wizard installs the Modem driver for your operating system. After the drivers have been installed, you are prompted to reboot your computer.
10. Reboot the computer to finish the installation.


Windows NT4.0
NOTE! Windows NT 4.0 is not a Plug and Play operating system in the extent featured in Windows 95/98. This single fact is the cause for much confusion with OEM's who are most familiar with Windows 98/95. The Installation process for HAMR56xx Modem is the same as for Programs.
1. Insert the driver CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Start, Run. Type "D:\DRIVERS\LAN\SETUP.EXE" in the Run Open dialog box, where D is your CD-ROM drive. The setup program automatically detects your operating system, and a Welcome screen appears.
3. Click Next. When you are prompted to select installation options, choose COM6. 
4. Click Next. A screen appears prompting you to install a new modem. Check the box next to "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list."
5. Click Next. You are prompted to select a manufacturer. Select "Modem Vendor."
6. Click Next. In the "Install New Modem" screen select COM6.
7. Click Next and follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing the LAN drivers for Windows NT4.0.
8. The final screen prompts you to click Finish to complete the installation. You should reboot your computer to finish the installation.

After the modem installation is finished, reboot the computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
