Installing New ODI Drivers

The ODI INFs supplied by the ODI team have a dependency on the Client 32 install. When a new ODI driver is developed it needs to be integrated in with Client 32 for WIN95 in order to install properly. Below are the instruction for adding an ODI driver to Client 32 for either diskette, network or hard drive installation.

Diskette Installation:
Copy the new INF and NLLAYOUT.INF to disk 1
Copy the new LAN driver to the LAN driver diskette
Add a reference to the new INF file and the NLLAYOUT.INF in NWSETUP.INI in the
     "INF Files" section.

Network or Hard drive Installation:
Copy the new INF and NLLAYOUT.INF to the installation directory
Copy the new LAN driver to the installation directory
Add a reference to the new INF file and the NLLAYOUT.INF in NWSETUP.INI in the
     "INF Files" section.

Caution:
Some LAN drivers and INFs support the same chip set but are not compatible. If
NWSETUP.INI references an INF that has a compatible chipset it is best to comment out the
compatible INF from NWSETUP.INI by adding a ‘;' in front of it. If Client 32 already exists on the hard drive the INF will need to be removed from the \WINDOWS\INF directory.

Installing a new Auto Detect Network Card on WIN95 WITHOUT Client 32

When installing a new network card on WIN95 that does not have Client 32 do the following:
Remove adapters from the Network control panel for any cards that are no longer in the
system or are going to be removed.

Watch WIN95 auto detect the hardware and make a best guess at the software to use.
The WIN95 CD will probably be requested.
Run the Client 32 install using SETUP.EXE, check the box to replace NDIS with ODI.
     Reboot the machine.
If the system comes up correctly your finished. If not Remove the adapter driver and
ODINSUP from the control panel and restart the machine.
Watch WIN95 auto detect the hardware. The correct new ODI driver should be selected
and Client 32 diskettes prompted for.
     Complete the Client 32 installation.
     Reboot the machine.
