Accton EN2218 Multi-function PC Card Netware Driver Installation This directory contains the DOS/ODI driver PCMMLID.COM that supports NetWare 3.x and 4.x, NetWare Lite, and other ODI compatible operating environments. This driver enables both the Ethernet and Modem functions of the PC Card. You need the following files to install the DOS/ODI driver. All of them are included on this diskette. 1. LSL.COM ---- Link Support Layer, supported by Novell. 2. PCMMLID.COM ---- DOS/ODI Driver, supplied on this diskette 3. IPXODI.COM ---- IPX/ODI driver, supported by Novell. 4. NETx.COM ---- Netware shell, supported by Novell. 5. NET.CFG ---- Optional configuration file You can copy all these files to a directory, and then enter the following commands: LSL <Enter> PCMMLID <Enter> IPXODI <Enter> NETx <Enter> You can then login to a file server. A batch file, STARTNET.BAT, with the above commands is included in the \NETWARE directory for your convenience. After executing PCMMLID.COM in the above command sequence, both the LAN (Ethernet) and Modem functions are enabled. The command displays the Ethernet I/O port and IRQ (interrupt) values used by the LAN function, as well as the COM port (e.g. COM2, COM3, or COM4) enabled. Please use this COM port when you configure your communication software. Below is a sample NET.CFG file: LINK DRIVER PCMMLID PORT 300 IRQ 5 COMPORT 3 FRAME Ethernet_802.2 FRAME Ethernet_802.3 FRAME Ethernet_II FRAME Ethernet_snap PROTOCOL IPX 0 Ethernet_802.2 After executing PCMMLID.COM with this NET.CFG file, a message similar to the following is displayed: COM3: IRQ 4, I/O 3E8 IRQ 5, Port 300, Node Address E8010155 L Max Frame 1514 bytes, Line Speed 10 Mbps, Bus ID 0 Board 1, Frame ETHERNET_802.2, LSB Mode Board 2, Frame ETHERNET_802.3, LSB Mode Board 3, Frame ETHERNET_II, LSB Mode Board 4, Frame ETHERNET_SNAP, LSB Mode In the NET.CFG file, the IRQ keyword specifies the interrupt (IRQ) for the LAN function. All legal IRQ values are supported. If Card Service is installed in the system, PCMMLID checks with the Card Service to see if the IRQ you specified is free. If it is, PCMMLID uses this IRQ. If it is not free, PCMMLID asks the Card Service to assign an available IRQ and use that IRQ instead of the one you specified. If Card Service is not installed, PCMMLID will try to use the IRQ you specified regardless whether it is free. In case the IRQ is not free, PCMMLID will not be able to come up, or the system may hang. If Card Service is installed in the system, it is recommended that you do not specify the IRQ value and let PCMMLID assign it for you. If Card Service in not installed, please make sure the IRQ you assigned, or the default value (5), is not used by another device in the system. The PORT keyword specifies the base I/O address for the LAN function. The supported values are: 0x300 (Default value) 0x320 0x340 0x360 The comment about IRQ assignment also applies to the PORT parameter. If Card Service is installed in the system, it is recommended that you do not specify the PORT value and let PCMMLID assign it for you. If Card Service in not installed, please make sure the I/O Base you assigned, or the default value (0x300), is not used by another device in the system. The COMPORT keyword specifies the COM port (COM2, COM3, COM4) for the modem function. The supported values are: 2 (for COM2) 3 (for COM3, default value) 4 (for COM4) The comment about IRQ assignment also applies to the COMPORT parameter. If Card Service is installed in the system, it is recommended that you do not specify the COMPORT value and let PCMMLID assign it for you. If Card Service in not installed, please make sure the COM port you assigned, or the default value (3, for COM3), is not used by another device in the system. ======================================================================= Novell, NetWare, Novell Advanced NetWare are registered trademarks of Novell Incorporated.
