		       DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAM FOR
		     ETHERNET SERIES LAN ADAPTERS

The Setup/Diagnosis Program is used to setup and verify the correctness of
the configuration of an Ethernet series LAN adapter before installing
the network software.

 START THE PROGRAM
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
1) To run the Setup/Diagnosis Program, type SETUP and then press Enter.

2) Move the Up/Down arrows and then press Enter to select an adapter
   to be diagnosed, If there are two more adapter is displayed.

Note   : If the program shows the message "No adapter seems to be present",
	 or if only one adapter is displayed, and more than one adapter
	 are in the PC, then the I/O Bases on the adapters are the same,
	 or they may be in conflict with another device. You can try to
	 change the iobase of one of the adapter by setting different
	 address and then restart the PC by pressing the reset button
	 to get the initial values.

 AUTO CONFIGURATION
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
1) Use the Up/Down arrows to select the "AUTO CONFIGURATION",
   then press ENTER.

2) This function will automatically set the adapter configuration
   and then display the adapter's configuration.

	   *	 Adapter Mode
	   *	 Base I/O Address
	   *	 IRQ Interrupt
	   *	 Transceiver  ( T.P , BNC )
	   *	 Boot ROM Base Address

3) Press any key to return to the MAIN MENU

Note   : If you don't accept this configuration. Press any key to
	 exit this screen and return to the MAIN MENU. Use the
	 Up/Down arrows to highlight the "SET CONFIGURATION",
	 then press ENTER. Then follow the "SET CONFIGURATION"
	 procedure to select desired option.

       : if IRQ Interrupt are conflicted in the PC, then IRQ Interrupt
	 will be Autoconfig from irq 15.

       : This Auto Configuration will autoselect the lan adapter media.
	 This is quite different with Set Configuration manual selection.

 SET CONFIGURATION
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
1) Use the Up/Down arrows to select the "SET CONFIGURATION",
   then press ENTER.

2) The adapter's configuration is displayed.

	   *	 Adapter Mode
	   *	 Base I/O Address
	   *	 IRQ Interrupt
	   *	 Transceiver
	   *	 Boot ROM Base Address

3) Move the Up/Down arrows to the item that wants to be changed.

4) Press Enter and then a list of options is displayed. Use the
   Up/Down arrows to highlight the desired option and then
   press Enter to select a new choice.

5) Press F3 to save the changes or ESC to exit without change.

Note : Be careful not to get in conflict with another device, especially
       for the base I/O address. If an invalid selection is made,
       the program may try to show some message and stop that selection.

 TEST THE ADAPTER
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
1) Use the Up/Down arrows to select the "TEST THE ADAPTER",
   then press ENTER.

2) The diagnosis process must be run to verify the correctness
   of the selected configuration. It provides the following
   tests for the adapter :

	   *	 Configuration test
	   *	 I/O test
	   *	 ID test
	   *	 RAM test
	   *	 Internal loopback test
	   *	 External loopback test
	   *	 Interrupt test
	   *	 Network function test

3) This  test screen  will be  presented  with	a window of  Testing
   Report  to  indicate the  result of	each diagnosis.   The	test
   results will be indicated by a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' remark.
   When  any  of a diagnosis test  results to a 'FAIL' remark,  your
   screen  will change to give you a  description of the malfunction
   and	at the same time  also give  you some  advices to solve that
   problem.

4) There  are  three  functional keys	which  could be used  during
   execute the diagnostic process, they are

	<F1>	To reset all counters which report the real
		network status.

	<F2>	To toggle the network function test ON or OFF.
		It is a toggle switch makes the network function
		test to be in reversed way.

	<ESC>	To terminate  and exit this  diagnostic process
		to return to the MAIN MENU.

   The	 real  network	status	report on this	diagnostic program
   including  TX count,  RX count. The	Time  that is
   accumulated	by   this  program  and  the   Performance  which is
   calculated by this program are also shown on the Test Screen.
   After you press the <F2> key once,  the network function test now
   is entering into the 'ON' condition,  that is,  TX count is going
   to increase quickly (single station).   And if there is more than
   one station	are running diagnose with network function test 'ON'
   on your network system (multiple stations), then RX count is also
   increasing quickly to reflect the real network traffic.

5) To  perform the diagnose, at least two workstations equipped  with
   any	of the ACC-10 adapters are necessary.  The  diagnose  program
   must be executed in both stations one after the other.

 COMMAND MODE USAGE

The SETUP Program is also designed to be executed from the command line.
The program will try to save the parameter specified in the command line
into the adapter being diagnosed.

The following lists the command line parameters available:

/C:d		the adapter to be diagnosed.( Note )
		the default value is adapter 1.
/M:cccccc	the new mode of the adapter.
		NE2000.
/I:xxxx 	the new base I/O address.
		example: 280, 300, ......
/Q:d		the new IRQ number.
		2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11
/TEST		run the diagnosis test.
/?		displays this help screen.

Note : If /C:2 was used then the adapter with the second Base I/O address
       (in ascending order) is selected.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
