A) Remove DECchip 21x40 driver supported by Win95

   The EN1203 and EN1207(-TX) Series are DEC chip DC21x40-based PCI adapters.
   The 21x40 driver supported by Win95 can work for these adapter.
   If you want run Accton's driver, you should remove the
   adapter object and driver in Win95 system, then do steps B) & C)
   to complete installation and configuration for the adapter.

    A.1) Remove adapter object & driver for DECchip 21140
    -----------------------------------------------------
    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon from My Computer window.
    3. Click the "System" icon from the Control Panel window.
    4. Click the "Network adapter" icon from System window.
    5. Click the "PCI Fast Ethernet DECchip 21140 Based Adapter"
       icon from System window.
    6. Click <Remove> button, then click <OK> button.
    7. Close the dialog box.


    A.2) Rename DC21x40 installation information file
    -------------------------------------------------
    8. Switch to MS-DOS Command Prompt windows.
    9. Type the following DOS command:

       CD \WINDOWS\INF
       RENAME NETPCI.INF *.IN_
       EXIT
   10. Shutdown and turn off the machine.

** NOTICE!!

       1. Here, \WINDWOS is the directory where your Windows 95 system is
          located.

       2. If you NEVER pluged EN1203 or EN1207(-TX) Series PCI adapter into
          your PC, steps 1..7 in A.1) is not necessary.  And you just start
          from step 8 in A.1), because you need not to remove the 21x40 adapter
          object and driver.



B) Install NDIS 3.1 driver to the Windows 95
    The drivers named ACCPCI.SYS contained in the directory
    WIN95.


    NDIS Driver Installation on Windows 95
    --------------------------------------

    1. Plug Accton's EN1203 or EN1207(-TX) series adapter into one of the
       Master PCI slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn power on then boot from Windows 95.
    3. Windows 95 will prompt PCI Ethernet Controller in New Hardware Found
       dialog box.
    4. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" from New
       Hardware Found dialog box, then click OK button.
    5. Insert the Accton Driver Diskette in your floppy drive.
    6. Enter the driver pathname, i.e. A:\ (or B:\), then click OK
       button from Install from Disk dialog box.
    7. Follow screen instructions to complete the process.
    8. Restart your computer.



C) Configuration NDIS 3.1 driver to the Windows 95

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon from My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon from the Control Panel window.
    4. Select "Adapter" item from Network Component Type dialog box,
       then click "Properties..." button.
    5. Click "Advanced" button from Properties for Accton EN120x PCI Ethernet
       Adapter dialog box.
    6. Here, you can set the following properties:

       <1>. Burst Length : 1 Dword        ; Default is 16 Dwords.
                           2 Dwords       ; (1 Dword = 4 bytes).
                           4 Dwords
                           8 Dwords
                          16 Dwords
                          32 Dwords

       <2>. Connection Type (32-bit driver): <NDIS3 driver>
             for EN1203 adapter:                ; Default is AutoDetect
                              AutoDetect
                              BNC (10Base2)
                              TP  Full_Duplex
                              TP  No_Link_Test
                              Twisted Pair (10BaseT)

             for EN1207(-TX) Series adapter      ; Default is AutoSense
                              100BaseTx
                              100BaseTx Full_Duplex
                              10BaseT
                              10BaseT Full_Duplex
                              AutoSense
                              BNC (10Base2)    ; support only EN1207 adapter

       <3>. Connection Type (16-bit driver): <NDIS2 driver>
            (This argument will be put in MAC driver section in PROTOCOL.INI)

                              Auto Detection    ; Default is Auto Detection
                              Twisted Pair
                              TP Full Duplex
                              BNC (Thinnet), (10Base2)

       <4>. Receive Buffers : 8, 16, 32, 48, 64.
                              default is 16.

       <5>. Map Registers   : 4, 8,
                              default is 8.
                              This parameter depends on different machine,
                              for x86, the value is 8.

       The following three parameters are  used for EN1207(-TX) adapter only.

       <6>. Store And Forward : Enabled --> Enable eraly transmit,
                                Disabled--> Disable early transmit,
                                default is Disabled.

       <7>. Transmit Threshold : the transmit FIFO threshold level when Store and
                                 Forward is disabled.

                             10Mbps:  72,  96, 128, 160   bytes,
                            100Mbps: 128, 256, 512, 1024  bytes,
                            default is 160 or 1024 bytes.

       <8>. Data Rate-16 bit driver: the line speed of EN1207(-TX) adapter,

                                     Valid data: 10Mbps, 100Mbps,
                                     default is 100Mbps.

    7. Follow screen instructions to complete the process.

    8. Restart your computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
