Diskette and click Start > Run > a:\setup. Insert the
modem when prompted.

----------------------------------------------------------------
2. Installing Your Modem on an HP Omnibook 800CS, an NEC 6030,
or an IBM 760 XL Computer

If you are using an HP Omnibook 800CS, an NEC 6030, or an
IBM 760 XL computer, do not run Setup. Simply insert the
modem into the PC Card slot and allow Windows to autodetect
it. When you are prompted, select "Disk Provided by
Manufacturer" and insert the Modem Installation Diskette.
After the computer has rebooted and you hear the tones
indicating the modem is inserted, run a:\setup from the
Modem Installation to copy necessary files to your computer.

----------------------------------------------------------------
3. If You are Having Trouble Connecting

If you're having problems connecting with your modem, verify
that the modem initialization string in your communications
software contains AT&F1 (hardware flow control). If you are
having problems connecting internationally, see file
c:\mhz\country.txt or a:\country.txt for helpful information.

---------------------------------------------------------------
4. Setting the Number of Rings Before Answering

On incoming calls, the modem uses the first ring to come out
of low power mode. For this reason, set ATS0=1 to answer on
the second ring.

---------------------------------------------------------------
5. Using the Diagnostic Software

DIAGNOSE.EXE allows you to easily collect information about
your computer and any inserted PC Cards. The information is
then used to verify that your system is running correctly, or
to fix any problems.

To use DIAGNOSE, follow these steps:
1. With Windows running, click "Start"
3. Click "Run"
4. Type c:\mhz\diagnose and click OK

Select the tests you want to perform from the menus at the top
of the screen.

---------------------------------------------------------------
6. If You are Using a Texas Instruments Notebook with a
    Phoenix Card Manager

At ship time, there were known issues with functionality in a
Texas Instruments notebook using a Phoenix card manager, such
as TI Extensa and TI TravelMate. Call the support phone number
for your notebook, or access www.acer.com.

---------------------------------------------------------------
7. If the Modem is Detected as a Voice Modem

The voice feature is not supported on this modem.

---------------------------------------------------------------
8. If You are Using an IBM 760C or an IBM 365XD Computer

If you have a problem with modem operating after the computer
has reactivated after going into sleep or suspend modes, leave
the computer running and remove and reinsert the modem.

---------------------------------------------------------------
9. If You Don't Hear Sounds During Faxing

When faxing with RapidComm software, you may not hear any
sounds during the faxing process. If this happens, go into
RapidComm modem setup and set the volume to medium (refer to
the RapidComm User's Guide for more information).

---------------------------------------------------------------
10. Uninstalling the Modem

Your modem will not uninstall correctly if you use
Control Panel>Modem>Remove.

Your modem will uninstall correctly using one of the following
methods:

Start>Programs>Megahertz International Modem for Windows>
Uninstall

-- or --

-- or --
