PROBLEMS FOUND WITH THE MICROSOFT NAVIGATOR / PLAYER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 FFWD->STOP->PLAY and SLOW->STOP->PLAY give no audio because the navigator "rate" is wrong
    workaround: PLAY->FFWD->PLAY

 Some subpicture text is not displayed in quick talking as compared to a dvd player.
   The navigator (or ks proxy) is not passing them down to the driver for display.
   (Kiss the Girls - "This guy is a collector" has many dropped subtitles.)

 Scenes with parental blocks are not skipped or played seamlessly.
   (Mercury Rising in hospital - from elevator to ambulance)

 Incorrectly identifies MPEG audio and LPCM as AC3. While hardware audio can handle this,
   software audio needs currect identification of MPEG audio.

 Will not play DVD content without a title menu or first play. (Blue Angels)

 Does not use the correct sector on Goldfinger for css key exchange.

 When playing in FFWD or REWIND and pressing PAUSE, counter continues. Quite a bit of
   the movie is skipped after PLAY is pressed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
USER CONSIDERATIONS WITH THE MICROSOFT NAVIGATOR / PLAYER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Pressing STOP leaves the last frame of video displayed in window. Appears broken to user.

 Pressing MENU while paused does nothing. You must press PLAY. Appears broken to user.

 Pressing PAUSE while paused does nothing. You must press PLAY.

 Player defaults to PG rating on install without informing user.
   Some movies skip scenes (Mercury Rising in hospital - from elevator to ambulance)

 Pressing the close button on the video window does nothing.
   You must press the close button on the control panel.

MICROSOFT WDM INSTALLATION PROBLEM
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 If installing an update to the WDM driver and the previous .INF file is present,
   an error 66 is reported the first time the driver update is attempted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAYING OF MPEG1/MPEG2 CLIPS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Double-clicking MPEG1 clips results in the Microsoft software codecs being used.
Double-clicking MPEG2 clips requires DirectXMedia 6.0 or later.
  Currently the clip is directed to STB DVD THEATER, but no video window is displayed.
  Audio works. TV out works.
  DirectXMedia can be acquired from
       http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/
    more specifically:
       http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/contents/updates/DirectXruntime/runtimesites.asp

To render files on STB DVD THEATER users with access to GraphEdt.exe (dxmedia sdk):
  Select "Render Media File" on a MPEG2 file,
    then right click and select render on the VPE out pin to see MPEG2 files.

  Insert filters to render an MPEG1 file.
    file source (async) - select file
     ->mpeg1 stream splitter
        ->stb-ibm dvd filter
          ->stb dvd theater
            ->overlay mixer (or overlay mixer2)
              ->video renderer
