Loading the PCI20 card in a Windows 98 system

1. Place all of the provided files onto one blank floppy disk. 

2. With the power off, place the PCI20 into your computer. Boot the machine.

3. The Update Device Driver Wizard screen or the New Hardware found 
screen should automatically appear.  Insert disk from step 1, then click 
'Next' or click 'Driver from a disk provided by hardware manufacturer'.

4. The screen should now show your PCI20 model. Click 'Finish'. 
If Windows prompts you for the location of the 98ndis40.sy_ file 
provide the path to your floppy drive.

5. VERY IMPORTANT: Windows will now ask you to restart the computer (twice).
Select "No" both times. 
 
6. Go to the control panel and double click the network icon.
Double click the PCI20 device listed and then select the advanced tab.
Now set your ARCNET node ID and any other desired settings and
press Ok.

8. Now add any desired protocols or services here EXCEPT NetBEUI. If
NetBEUI is listed and bound to the PCI20 Windows will not be able
to boot until this binding has been removed.

9. Select OK to save all your settings and reboot the machine.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
