In order to use the PCI20 under Windows 95 or 98 read the PCI20
Enabler for Windows 95 section below. For Windows 3.1 and DOS
read the locator.txt file.
PCI20 Enabler for Windows 95 Loading Instructions:
WARNING: Do not use this enabler if you need to use an NDIS
driver with the PCI20. The PCI20 NDIS driver is available from
our website (http://www.ccontrol.com).
1.) With the power off, insert your PCI20 card into your
computer. Turn on your computer.
2.) If the 'Update Device Driver Wizard' dialog appears then
insert this disk and follow the instructions provided by
the installation wizard. If the 'New Hardware Found'
dialog appears, select the 'Driver from a disk provided
by hardware manufacturer' option, insert this disk and
press 'OK'. You should then see a reference to a
specific Contemporary Controls PCI20 model.
3.) If any files cannot be found during the installation process,
provide the system with the location of this floppy drive when
prompted (e.g.'A:/').
4.) The driver should now be loaded. Reboot the machine if
Windows requests this to be done.
5.) Now proceed to the Windows Control Panel. Double click the
System icon. Choose the Device Manager tab. Select the
'View devices by type' option. There should be an
'PCI20'category displayed. Double click this category
and you should see a 'PCI20' device listed. Double click
this device. Now choose the resources tab.
6.) Read the 16 byte Input/Output range and interrupt request
settings. If these are acceptable for your application or
driver the installation is complete.
7.) If you need to modify these selections, deselect the
'Use automatic settings' box. You can now modify your
PCI20's resource settings (I/O range and Interrupt
request). The COM20020 on the PCI20 is located in the 16
byte I/O space. After modifying these parameters press
'OK'. You may then be prompted with a warning, press 'Yes'
to continue. If Windows will not allow you to modify the
interrupt selection, this value can be adjusted in your
BIOS setup screen.
8.) Your PCI20 should now be accessible at the I/O and Interrupt
settings you selected in the previous step.
9.) To confirm proper settings the disk also contains two DOS
utilities:
irqtest.exe (to test the I/O and interrupt selections) and
netmap.exe (to test the ability of your PCI20 to communicate
with an ARCNET network). The instructions for using these
programs are listed below.
IRQTEST.EXE: This program will allow you to test your I/O and
interrupt settings. This program requires two
parameters. The first parameter is the base I/O
address of the PCM20 (in hex). The second parameter
is the interrupt setting used by the PCI20 (in
decimal).
For example: irqtest 2e0 5.
You do not need to be connected to the network
to run this test. In fact it is best that you are
not connected to the network so that interrupts
can be tested due to the reconfiguration timer.
NETMAP.EXE: This program will provide a list of the nodes
currently on your network. This program requires
one parameter. This is the base I/O address of
the PCI20 (in hex).
For example: netmap 2e0.
As this is an off-line network map this node
will not join the network and will not be listed
in the netmap output. In order to use this program
you must have at least two additional active nodes
on the network.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
