Loading the PCM20 card in a Windows 95 system
1. Turn the machine on and insert card.
2. The Update Device Driver Wizard screen or the New Hardware found screen should automatically appear. Insert disk from step 1, then click 'Next' or click 'Driver from a disk provided by hardware manufacturer'.
3. The screen should now show 'PCM20'. Click 'Finish'.
4. Open 'Control Panel' and double click 'System' icon.
5. Click 'Device Manger' tab and double click 'Network' icon. Double click the'PCM20 PC Card ARCNET Adapter'. Under device status it should read " The device is working properly".
6. If there is an error shown double check the interrupt and I/O setting used.
Loading the PCM20 card in a NT system
1. Download the driver files from our web site and place these files onto 1 floppy disk. (If the driver files are zips files then unzip them onto 1 floppy disk.)
2. Click 'Start', select 'Run', and enter 'winmsd'. Click 'OK'.
3. After winmsd is loaded, click the 'Resources' tab. This will show you the currently used interrupts and I/O settings.
4. Locate an unused interrupt and I/O setting; be sure to write them down, as you will need them again. (The PCM20 requires one interrupt (IRQ) in the range of 3-15, and 16 consecutive I/O addresses in the range of 100 - 3F0. For example, IRQ5 and I/O 300-30F.)
5. Insert card.
6. Open the Control Panel and double click the 'Network' icon.
7. Click 'Adapters' tab. Click 'Add'.
8. Click 'Have Disk'. Insert the disk created in step 1. The insert disk screen will appear, verify location and click 'OK'.
9. The Select OEM Option window will appear, select 'PCM20 ARCNET Adapters', click 'OK'.
10. The CCSI PCM20 ARCNET Adapter Setup screen will appear. Place the I/O setting you have chosen in the box. The setting should start with Ox.
11. Select the interrupt you have chosen in the provided drop down box.
12. In the Node Id section enter a value from 1- 255 decimal.
13. Under cable type choose the coax setting.
14. For the Advanced settings, click 'Advanced'. The screen CCSI ARCNET Adapter Advanced Configuration, will then be shown.
15. Under data rate select your desired data rate. Note the PCM20-TPB, PCM20-CXB, MAU20-TPB and MAU20-CXB MUST be set to 2.5 Mbps. PCM20/5 cards will operate at twice the data rate shown (see manual for data rate selection). If operating the PCM20/5 at 5Mbps you should check the Slow Arbitration box.
16. Extended time outs are used for larger networks. Set at normal for standard applications.
17. Under slow arbitration only check this if using a PCM20/5 at 5Mbps.
18. Checking command chaining will provide a slightly faster ARCNET Communications.
19. When changes are complete, Click 'OK', this will bring you back to the setup screen.
20. Click 'OK' in the setup screen, after verifying information.
21. Binding will now begin, the computer may ask for IP address, enter it and Click 'OK'.
22. Click 'Bindings' tab. Select all adapters from the drop down list and click the '+' in front of PCM20 ARCNET Adapter.
23. Insure the desired protocols are bound to the PCM20 driver (we suggest protocol TCP/IP). If not, load the appropriate protocols and again verify the proper protocols are bound to the PCM20.
24. Click 'Close'. If the Microsoft TCP/IP properties screen appears, enter the IP address. Click 'OK'.
25. Restart computer. If Windows presents a message stating that a driver failed run the event viewer. If a PCM20 event is listed verify settings on the PCM20 and driver screens.
26. Click 'Start', select 'Run' and enter 'winmsd'. Click 'OK'.
28. Click 'Resources' tab, verify PCM20 is listed under resources.
29. If the card is listed under resources used your done.
30. If the card is not listed verify the I/O and interrupt settings selected. If ok then
reinstall the driver. If reinstalling you need to remove the adapter driver before
reinstalling.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
