Eiger Labs Fast!SCSI/QLA400 ADD Driver for OS/2 Version 2.43 February 10, 1995 * This release has been tested with OS/2 Warp Version 3 * The following files are on this disk for supporting OS/2: \OS2\QL40.DDP Device driver profile script required for the OS/2 Device Driver Install utility \OS2\QL40OS2.ADD OS/2 ADD driver for Eiger Fast!SCSI/QLA400 adapters \OS2\README.TXT This file Installing OS/2 Warp Version 3 from diskettes: 1. Start the installation by inserting the IBM OS/2 Installation Diskette into drive A and restarting the system, insert other diskettes as requested 2. During the installation from diskette, select "Advanced Installation" 3. When the System Configuration window is displayed, select the CD-ROM Device Support icon and then select the type of CD-ROM device to be supported 4. After completing the OS/2 installation from diskettes, follow the procedure below to install the Eiger ADD driver using the Device Driver Install utility * To install the Eiger Fast!SCSI/QLA400 ADD driver on previously installed OS/2 system: 1. Boot up OS/2 system 2. Insert SCSI driver diskette into drive A (or B) 3. Select "System Setup" from OS/2 System program group 4. Select "Device Driver Install" from the System Setup group 5. Change source directory to A:\OS2 (or B:\OS2) 6. Select "Install" 7. Select the "Qlogic Fast!SCSI/QLA400 ADD Driver" followed by "OK". The driver will be copied to your boot disk and your CONFIG.SYS file will be updated 8. You must reboot your system after installing the driver * The QL40OS2.ADD driver is dependent on PCMCIA card and socket services drivers. Before installing the Qlogic driver, users should check to ensure that the proper socket and card services are installed for their type of machine. The following procedure can be used to install the proper card and socket services drivers. 1. Select "System Setup" from the "OS/2 System" program group 2. Select "Selective Install" from the "System Setup" group 3. The Icon "PCMCIA Support" should list what brand and model of machine the system is currently configured for. If there is no machine listed, or "NONE" click on the "PCMCIA Support" icon. 4. Select the proper machine from the list of supported systems, then select the "OK" button. 5 Next, the "System Configuration" screen is displayed, select "OK". 6. Select "Install", when prompted for the diskette, insert the proper diskette. 7. Once the system has the proper files installed, it must be rebooted in order for the Qlogic card to function along with card and socket services. * OS/2 currently does not have support for PCMCIA devices as part of the install script. OS/2 V3.0 cannot be installed to or from a PCMCIA device during the initial installation of the operating system. * OS/2 currently does not support removable SCSI disk devices. The QLogic ADD driver provides limited support for these devices by treating them like a fixed disk device. The disk media must be inserted when booting OS/2, and the system must be rebooted when changing the disk media. To enable removable disk support, add the /!R parameter to the BASEDEV= command in your CONFIG.SYS file as follows: BASEDEV=QL40OS2.ADD /!R * The following command line parameters are supported by the Eiger Fast!SCSI/QLA400 ADD driver: (add to end of BASEDEV=QL40OS2.ADD line in config.sys file) /A:d Specifies which adapter (0 or 1) that following command line parameters apply to. /I Ignore the specified adapter (must follow "/A:d" parameter). /DM /!DM Enable/disable DASD manager support for specified adapter and/or devices (add ":d,d,d" to specify list of SCSI IDs or ":(d,d),(d,d),(d,d)" to specify ID,LUN pairs). Default is enabled. /SM /!SM Enable/disable SCSI manager support for specified adapter and/or devices (add ":d,d,d" to specify list of SCSI IDs or ":(d,d),(d,d),(d,d)" to specify ID,LUN pairs). Default is enabled. /!R Report removable disk devices to OS/2 as fixed disks. By default removable disks will be reported as removable. /ET /!ET Enable/disable embedded target support for specified adapter. Default is enabled (all 8 LUNs supported). Specify /!ET for supporting LUN 0 only. /PAR /!PAR Enable/disable SCSI bus parity checking on specified adapter. Default is parity enabled. /SD /!SD Enable/disable SCSI disconnects for specified adapter and/or devices (add ":d,d,d" to specify list of SCSI IDs or ":(d,d),(d,d),(d,d)" to specify ID,LUN pairs). Default is enabled. /SI:d Specify SCSI ID to use on specified adapter. Default is SCSI ID 7. /SN /!SN Enable/disable synchronous negotiations for specified adapter and/or devices (add ":d,d,d" to specify list of SCSI IDs or ":(d,d),(d,d),(d,d)" to specify ID,LUN pairs). Default is enabled. /SR /!SR Enable/disable SCSI bus reset during boot on specified adapter. Default is enabled. Do not disable the SCSI bus reset if synchronous negotiation is enabled on any device. /V Enable verbose mode (display configuration data during boot). Default is disabled. The following parameters are for the PCMCIA-10 SCSI adapter only: /IRQ:dd Specify interrupt level to use (PCMCIA mode only). Default is IRQ 11. /P /!P Enable/disable PCMCIA support. Default is disabled. /P:hhhh Enable PCMCIA support and specify the base I/O address to use. Default base I/O address configured will be 330 or 230.Download Driver Pack
