Release: Lucent 4/16/98

Warning!!!!
   * Use only with modems with "MD56002" or "FM560LK" on the back label.
If anything goes wrong (i.e. Power outage, Windows lock up, etc...)
and the flash update process is disrupted, your modem will be rendered
non-functional. Then it needs to be replaced by us. So be sure to:
   1. Run the flash.exe from the Hard Drive, not floppy or network.
   2. Close out of ALL other programs
   3. Attach your AC power adapter
   4. Turn off your notebook's power management features
   5. Disable your Screen Saver
   6. Disconnect from network.
   7. DON'T touch the computer while it's flashing!!!
*. This should only take a couple of minutes.

Procedure:
   1. Create a folder on C: drive called "C:\Flash"
   2. Copy the downloaded file "v90FM310.exe" into "C:\Flash" directory
   3. Double click on "v90FM310.exe" to extract the files inside.
   4. Double click on "flash.exe" to run the flash session.
   5. Choose "P416N2A.HEX"
   6. Now the program will find the modem and upgrade it.
   7. When finished go to the Control Panel.
   8. Double click on the "Modem" icon.
   9. Click on "Eiger Labs PCMCIA K56 Modem"
  10. Click on the "Remove" Button.
  11. After it is removed, physically remove the modem from the PCMCIA slot.
  12. Wait 10 seconds and re-insert the modem into the PCMCIA slot.
  13. Your notebook computer should find a new device and will ask you for the driver.
  14. The new driver for the modem is in "C:\Flash" directory.
  15. Windows 95/98 should find the updated driver for the "EigerCom 56K PC Card Modem"
  16. Click on "Finish". We are done.

Happy surfing! :)

Status of V.90:
You might find that even after flashing the modem to v.90 code you are not connecting
above 33.6K (v.34+). This is because v.90 is still in its early adaptation stage
and there are number of different v.90 firmware codes out there, for US Robotics, Rockwell,
Lucent, Cirrus, PCtel, etc. chipset based modems and server modems. It won't be long
before all the firmwares become more stable and more interconnectable. Until then
we will continue updating flash codes for our modems.
