Installing the Synaptics TouchPad Driver ---------------------------------------- Use the Setup.exe program! This will guide you through the installation procedure. You can run this program either through a DOS box by going to the directory that contains the driver files and typing "setup", or using StartMenu-Run and running setup (e.g. if the driver files are on a floppy disk in the A: drive, you would type "A:\setup".) After the driver is loaded and you have restarted windows, you should see the TouchMeter Icon in your task bar next to the clock. Also, a dialog box, "Information about your TouchPad" should come up unless you have checked the "Stop showing me this message" checkbox. Either choose "Tell me more..." from this dialog box, or double-click on the TouchMeter Icon in your task bar, and choose the help button. 2. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
