!!!!  I M P O R T A N T  !!!!

If there are old drivers already installed for the Hermstedt ISDN Adapter
you must uninstall the Adapter and after that you must execute the file
"LeoClr98.bat". "LeoClr98.bat" deletes the driver files which are not
deleted during the uninstalling because of a bug in Windows 98.

2. Installation
---------------
If whilst installing the card you cancel the dialog box which allows you to
install from a disk provided from another manufacturer, when the machine
boots, the Hermstedt card will appear as an "Other Device" within Device
Manager. If this occurs, the card has not been installed correctly. Please
delete the card by checking the line "other device" in Device Manager and
then click "Remove" and follow the steps laid out the installation
procedure below.

Similarly, if you wish to update from a previous driver, you will have to
follow this "Remove and reboot" procedure. In this case, please mark the
entry under "Network Adapter" and then click "Remove".


!!! If you need to un-install your Hermstedt PCI ISDN Adapter, please
!!! follow steps 1 - 6 in chapter 3 Un-installating. After finishing this
!!! un-installation continue with the installation.

1. Once the machine has rebooted with the Hermstedt card installed, it will
   be detected automatically by Windows 98's plug and play feature. You
   will then be asked for a drivers disc from a hardware manufacturer.
2. Insert the Hermstedt ISDN CD, enter the path for Windows 98 drivers
   (e.g.: "D:\ENGLISH\Win98" if your CD drive is letter D:) and click "OK".
3. If you see the ISDN Configuration Wizard click "Next" or "Finish". You
   need not enter any details this time. The configuration is done via the
   Hermstedt ISDN Configuration Panel.
4. The setup program for the NDIS interface will need some files from the
   Windows 98 installation CD-ROM. Please insert the CD and enter the
   correct path of the installation directory on the CD.
5. After the installation has finished, maybe you have to reboot your
   computer to activate the new drivers.
8. Start the Hermstedt ISDN Configuration Panel inside the Control Panel
   and enter the used details.



3. Un-installation
------------------
1.  From the Start Menu, go to "Settings" and then "Control panel".
2.  Double click the "System" icon .
3.  Choose the second tab "Device Manager". Then choose either:
4.a New Installation
    Double click the first entry "Other components" and tag the value
    "PCI Network Controller" and click "Remove".

          or

4.b Update
    Double click the first entry "Network adapter", tag the value
    "Hermstedt PCI ISDN adapter" and click "Remove".

5.  In the next dialog box, click "OK".
6.  Close the Control Panel.
    Now reboot the machine and start Windows 98.



4.  Hermstedt ISDN System Manager (ISM)
---------------------------------------
4.1 Overview
------------
The ISDN System Manager (ISM) is used for configuration of Hermstedt ISDN cards, Leonardo Express and LeoShare.
You can start ISM from the control panel by doubleklicking "ISDN System Manager" icon.

Using ISM all configurations for Hermstedt ISDN cards driver could be done. If more then one ISDN card is installed,
all settings could be done for all cards simply by selecting the appropriate card.

Some settings are only after a reboot available. In this case a notification window is poped up.


4.2 ISM dialogs
---------------
When ISM is started, a treeview is displaed in the left area. Use the treeview to select the different dialogs.
The "Apply" button is activated, whenever changes are made. Some of the dialogs only appear if the appropriate
applications are installed.

Changes are stored after pushing the "OK" or "Apply" buttons. If the application is cancelled through the "Cancel"
button or by checking the "X" in the caption, no changes are saved.


4.2.1 General Informations
--------------------------
- Version Informations
Contains all version informations of the drivers, the main version and date for comparing with newer versions.

-System Information
Identifies the operating system, service packs und builds.

- Tools
Three buttons give access to the trace application, the Dial-Up-Networking phonebook and storing all settings to
a readable and printable file.


4.2.2 Adapter Settings
----------------------
All settings in this dialog are valid for the selected ISDN card.

- General settings
Provides different D-Channel protocols. Default is DSS1.

- Caller-ID
Allows to configure one MSN for all outgoing calls.

- Initialize Adapter
This button resets the ISDN card. The card is stopped immediatly and started onesmore. This feature is only on NT 4.0
and Windows 2000 available.

4.2.3 MSN Settings
------------------
This is the central point to insert and delete all MSNs/Subaddresses available. These are used in all other dialogs
where settings related to MSNs/Subaddresses. Insert MSNs/Subaddresses in the editboxes and use the Add button to append
them to the list. To change a MSN/Subaddresse use the Replace button. To delete one select it in the list and click
Delete.


4.2.4 CAPI MSN Settings
-----------------------
This dialog is used for assigning MSNs to the CAPI interface. Simply select the appropriate one in the left listbox
and use the arrow button to select it for the CAPI interface. Removing one is just the other way round.


4.2.5 COM Port Settings
-----------------------
To add a new COM-Port click on the Button "New" and in the line above the default values for the new port
(COM-Port number, protocol) will be shown.
The list with the COM-Port protocols contains all possible values for this controller type.
All entered MSN for this Adapter, done in the MSN-Dialog, are listed in the MSN-Box.
If a port should not answer calls you can select the first value in the MSN List ("  ----  ").
When all required settings for a new COM-Port are made, click on the "Add" button and the entry appears in the list
below.
To change any values of a COM-Port in the list, tag the entry, make the changes and then click on the
"Replace" button. If a COM-Port should be deleted, tag the entry and click on the "Delete" button and the entry
will be deleted from the list below.
The added COM-Ports are useable after restarting the system (not neccessary on Windows 2000), but changes on a COM-Port
or of any NDIS settings are useable directly after saving the changes.


4.2.6 NDIS Settings
--------------------
This dialog allows to configure MSNs/Subaddresses RAS and Dial-Up-Networking. The default protocol is HDLC.

In the dialog "Incoming calls" the user can enter the number of lines which are used for each MSN to answer incoming calls.
If the number of current connections for a MSN is reached, all further calls for this MSN will be ignored.
For every RAS line a own signaling number can be set in the dialog for "Outgoing calls".
This button is only activ if the checkbox for only one signaling number is not checked, because this flag has a
higher priority.
The setting for the B-Channel protocol is used by all outgoing NDIS-calls. If the user sets the protocol to "HDLC (transparent)"
and he wants to call a remotestation with the X.75 protocol, the user can append a "x" to the phonenumber to make
a X.75 connection.


4.2.7 Access Control Settings
-----------------------------
With activating the Access Control feature all incoming calls will be checked for their permission to call in
by the driver.
In the Access Control Dialog the default values can be set at the toplevel dialog. With these
parameter the user can choose if all incoming calls, without any special number settings, should be accepted
by the Hermstedt driver or not. The remote site gets an user busy signal in case of not accepting the call.
The calls checked by the Access Control could be logged in the event viewer.
There are two differnt possibilites to log a number. The first creates an entry for all incoming numbers and
by selecting the second one an extra entry for every rejected call will be add.

Special numbers used by the Access Control can be entered in the User settings. For every number the access mode
and the protocol can be set. Numbers can contain the question mark character "?" for filtering numbers with a
specific length.
With the number "???" e.g. all incomning calls with 3 digits will be accepted or rejected.
With the buttons "Add", "Replace" and "Delete" the user can handle the entries in the list.


4.2.8 LeoShare Client
---------------------
This dialog appears only when Leonardo Express ist installed on a PC which has no ISDN card installed.
It allows to configure manually IP-Address and IP-Port of the LeoShare Server, if it is not found automatically.


4.2.9 Software Licenses
-----------------------
Some Hermstedt software uses License keys. At this central point all installed keys are available.
License key could be added and deleted in this dialog too.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
