This file contains instructions for updating the firmware of PROLINK 1456VE.

1) Overview
   ========
   The compressed file contains the following directories and files for
   updating PROLINK 1456VE modem firmware.

2) Preparing for Upgrade
   =====================
   1. Attach your modem to the RS-232 cable and plug it to the COM port
      properly.
   2. Power on your modem and have constant power to the modem. If the power
      dies during the flash process, it can adversely affect your modem.
   3. This flash update needs to be performed in Windows 95/98.

3) Performing The Firmware Update
   ==============================
   1. Run C:\PROLINK\V90.BAT or C:\PROLINK\K56FLEX.BAT
      Windows 95/98 users: Use Explorer
   2. When modem has been detected, click on "Load Now".
   3. After a successful flash, restart the computer.

4) Installing new INF driver
   =========================

   1. After reboot, Windows 95 will detects the modem as a new device.
      a. Windows 95 users:    Select "Driver from disk provided by
         hardware manufacturer" and click Ok. Type in C:\PROLINK and then
         click Ok.
      b. Windows 95 OSR2 users: Click next. When prompted for a
         driver type in C:\PROLINK and then Finish.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
