Overview

This is the P7E BIOS for the Intel(r) SR84510A (Seabreeze T3 and Nimitz 2) motherboards.  This BIOS contains the Gateway splash screen.


Identification

To confirm that this is the correct BIOS update for your motherboard, perform the following steps.

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer.  On your keyboard, repeatedly press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to list  
SR84510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters).  The BIOS prefix SR84510A is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.

3.  If this is correct, this is the correct BIOS update for your motherboard.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.

If the computer is turned on and in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click Yes.

2.  As soon as the computer restarts, on your keyboard, repeatedly press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, on the Main tab, look for the BIOS version line.  The version needs to list  
SR84510A.xxx.xxxx.Pxx (where x is variable characters).  The BIOS prefix SR84510A is constant and specifically identifies the correct motherboard.

4.  If this is correct, this is the correct BIOS update for your motherboard.  Press the F10 key to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.


Installation

Steps to flash or re-flash the computer using a CD burner drive:

1.  After you have downloaded and double-click the BIOS update file (SR84510AP7E.exe), the files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\SR84510AP7E folder on the hard drive.

2.  An application that can burn CDs, such as Roxio Easy CD Creator or Nero, can be used to create a bootable CD.   
Images of the CD are located in the C:\Cabs\SR84510AP7E folder as filename SR84510A.iso and SR84510A.nrg.  Use Nero for the nrg file or Roxio Easy CD Creator for the iso file.

  * C:\Cabs\SR84510AP7E\SR84510A.iso - use Roxio Easy CD Creator

3.  After creating the CD, place the CD in the CD/DVD drive, and then restart the computer.

4.  The computer boots to a menu.  Press 1 to flash the BIOS.

5.  The BIOS is flashed.  Do not press any keys or turn off the computer during this process.

6.  When the flash is complete, the computer automatically restarts.  

7.  Press the F2 key to enter the CMOS Setup Utility.

8.  In the CMOS Setup Utility, press F9 and then ENTER to set defaults.  

9.  Press F10 and then ENTER to save and exit.


Steps to flash or re-flash the computer using a floppy disk drive or bootable USB flash drive:

1.  Copy all of the BIOS files except SR84510A.iso and SR84510A.nrg from the C:\Cabs\SR84510AP7E folder to a blank floppy disk or a USB flash drive. 

2.  Restart the computer with the floppy disk/USB flash drive plugged in.

3.  The computer boots to a menu.  Press 1 to flash the BIOS.

4.  The BIOS is flashed.  Do not press any keys or turn off the computer during this process.

5.  When the flash is complete, the computer automatically restarts.  

6.  Press the F2 key to enter the CMOS Setup Utility.

7.  In the CMOS Setup Utility, press F9 and then ENTER to setup defaults.  

8.  Press F10 and then ENTER to save and exit.


Removal

A motherboard must have a BIOS to operate, therefore there is no removal procedure.


Troubleshooting

When the computer restarts and the hard drive, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM drive is not recognized, restart the computer, enter the BIOS Setup Utility, and then reset to the BIOS defaults (F9).  Save the changes and exit.  

Note:  After resetting to the default values and restarting, you may need to enter the BIOS Setup Utility again to reset the desire parameters such as the Boot Priority.

If you have difficulties installing the BIOS update, download the file again, and then ensure that all installation steps in this document are followed.  If a Checksum error message appears, enter the BIOS Setup Utility, change to default values, and then restart the computer.  


Reason for Update

This BIOS has a Gateway splash screen.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
