Overview

This utility is designed for use with Gateway E-3200 Maverick computers implementing
the 3C905B Fast EtherLink XL NIC on the NLX riser to resolve a problem with remote wake-up.

E-3200 computers with the integrated 3C905b Fast EtherLink XL NIC on the NLX riser card.


Installation

1. Once the file has been extracted to C:\Cabs\Lndeskfx, the following files should be present.

	autoexec.bat
	Rwufix.exe
	Wakeup.bat
	Y.dat
	Readme.txt

2.  Make a bootable floppy disk.

3.  Copy the files extracted from the patch, to the floppy disk.

4.  Start your computer to the floppy disk, and the patch will be applied.

5.  Remove the floppy disk and restart your computer normally.

Note: In order for your computer to properly perform Wake On Lan functions, the "On PME" setting in the BIOS must be set to "Power On". This setting can be found on the "Boot" page of the BIOS. To access the BIOS, press the F1 key during computer startup.

Removal

There is no removal procedure.

Troubleshooting

In order for your computer to properly perform Wake On Lan functions, the "On PME" setting in the BIOS must be set to "Power On". This setting can be found on the "Boot" page of the BIOS. To access the BIOS, press the F1 key during computer startup. Also verify you have the up-to-date driver for the NIC.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
