1. Preparing your system
2. Performing the update
3. Updating system settings

Preparing your system

Note: before updating the BIOS you should enter the current BIOS and write down the settings for later.

1. Before you can update your BIOS, you must first create a Boot Disk.
	A. In Windows 95, go to Start | Settings | Control Panel. Double click on Add/Remove Programs. Click on the tab labeled Startup Disk. The system will prompt you to insert a diskette. Please note that all data on the diskette WILL BE ERASED.
	B. In Windows for Workgroups, exit Windows to a C:\. Insert a diskette in the A: drive. Please note that all data on the diskette WILL BE ERASED. At the C:\ type "format a: /s" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. When you return to a C:\ the diskette is ready.
	C. In Windows NT 4.0, create a boot disk on a Windows for Workgroups or Windows 95 system using the methods above.

2. Copy all BIOS files you downloaded (except the file you just downloaded) onto the Boot Diskette created in step 1. Click on the first BIOS file. Holding down the Shift key, click on all the other BIOS files. When all files are highligted, click and drag to the A:\ drive.

Performing the update

1. Reboot the computer with the diskette in the A:\ drive.
2. When the first menu screen appears, press Enter to continue.
3. Press Enter to update a flash memory area.
4. Press Enter to update system BIOS.
5. Press the down arrow to highlight file. Press Enter to update.
6. Press Enter to continue.
7. When BIOS update is complete, remove diskette and press Enter to reboot as prompted.

Updating System Settings

Note: if your system contains a processor higher than 233mhz, you will need to update the speed in the new BIOS. Power down the system and remove the cover. Locate jumper J7E1, on the front corner of the system board. Move the jumper from the normal 1-2 pin position to the 2-3 pin position. The 2-3 pin setting initiates a BIOS maintenance mode that lets you set the processor speed. Power on the system to enter Maintenance Mode and set processor speed.
Once the processor speed has been set and the configuration has been saved, power down the system and replace the J7E1 jumper to the 1-2 pin position. Restart the system and the new processor speed is displayed.

Enter the new BIOS and verify settings are the same as those you copied down earlier.
