DI0T BIOS Update


Before updating your system BIOS be sure to read the following.

1. Preparing your system
2.  Performing the update
3.  Updating system settings

Preparing your system

Note:  before updating the BIOS you should enter the current BIOS and write down the settings for later.

1.  Before you can update your BIOS, you must first create a Boot Disk.
	A.  In Windows 95/98, go to Start | Settings | Control Panel.  Double click on Add/Remove Programs.  Click on the tab labeled Startup Disk.  The system will prompt you to insert a diskette.  Please note that all data on the diskette WILL BE ERASED.
	B.  In Windows for Workgroups, exit Windows to a C:\.  Insert a diskette in the A: drive.  Please note that all data on the diskette WILL BE ERASED.  At the C:\ type "format a: /s" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter.  When you return to a C:\ the diskette is ready.
	C.  In Windows NT 4.0,  create a boot disk on a Windows for Workgroups or Windows 95 system using the methods above.

2.  Copy all files you expanded from the original .exe file to the boot diskette.  Make sure you don't copy the original .exe file, or you'll run out of room on the floppy drive.  Click on the first BIOS file.  Holding down the Shift key, click on all the other BIOS files.  When all files are highligted, click and drag to the A:\ drive.

Performing the update

1.  Reboot the computer with the diskette in the A:\ drive.  
2.  When the first menu screen appears, press Enter to continue.
3.  Press Enter to update a flash memory area.
4.  Press Enter to update system BIOS.
5.  Press the down arrow to highlight file.  Press Enter to update.
6.  Press Enter to continue.
7.  When BIOS update is complete, remove diskette and press Enter to reboot as prompted.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
