EISA Configuration Utility (ECU) Configuration File (CF) Requirements to Run ECU: 1.EISA Computer. 2.Clean boot. 3.System configuration diskette or ECU from hard drive if the system hard drive is bootable. Setting Up A Bootable ECU Diskette: 1.Format a disk in the A: drive and transfer system files to it by typing format a: /s at the C:\> prompt. 2.When prompted for the label, title the disk as SYSTEMCFG. 3.Copy all files from the Configuration diskette that came with the system to the newly created EISA configuration diskette. 4.Copy the appropriate controller card files from the controller cards utility disks to the newly created ECU disk: Adaptec: ADP0000.OVL !ADP0002.CFG Ultrastore: !USC0240.CFG 5.Run the CF.EXE file on the backup diskette. This brings up the main menu of the EISA Utility. When the CF file is run, the driver for the Adaptec controller card will automatically load and install in the correct slot. There are 7 different screens of information. Within those screens, the 5 steps listed above are explained. 7.Step 2: Add or Remove Boards - Add boards that this program cannot add automatically. In Step 2, a list of boards detected in the configuration are listed. When the computer is correctly configured, each EISA and ISA board appears in this list. EISA boards are added automatically. The Add feature allows an ISA board to be added to the list. The ISA boards must physically be installed. Listed below are the boards and options detected in your computer. To add the boards or options which could not be detected or which you plan to install, press Insert. To move the highlighted board to another slot, press F7. To remove the highlighted board from your configuration, press DEL. When you have completed this step, press F10. In this step, you must select whether to save your configuration or to discard your changes before exiting this program. If you choose to save, this program will save the new configuration in your computer's nonvolatile memory and in a file on your system configuration diskette, and then your computer will be restarted for you. If you choose to discard the configuration, any changes you have made will be lost. - Save the configuration and restart the computer. - Discard the configuration and return to the main menu. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
