Important!: Make sure that your BIOS ends with BR0T. This BIOS implements "Secure Flash", and as a result, once flashed in, you will not be able to revert back to a non-secure flash BIOS without using the "Flash Recovery" jumper. This is being implemented to help keep viruses or other software from accidentally writing to the Flash BIOS part, and causing corruption.

Before making any changes to your BIOS, document your old CMOS settings so that when you update your BIOS, you’ll have a record of the old settings. This is very important, so that you don’t run into problems later on.

1. Make a bootable floppy.

2. If you're running Windows 95: In Explorer, click on file, then NEW, and FOLDER. The system will then put a NEW FOLDER icon on your C drive. Right-click on the downloaded BIOS file and choose Copy from the menu. Right click on the NEW FOLDER icon and choose Paste from the menu. Double-click on the BIOS file in NEW FOLDER to extract the necessary files.
If you're running Windows 3.1x: In File Manager, select Create Directory from the file pulldown menu. Type C:\TEST as the directory name and press Enter. Click the downloaded BIOS once file to highlight it, choose Move from the File pulldown menu, and type C:\TEST in the box provided. Double-click on the BIOS now in the Test directory to extract the neccesary files.

3. Copy the files onto the bootable floppy in the same manner as 2, only to the A drive. Don’t copy the original compressed file to the disk or you’ll run out of room, and don’t copy the command.com file if there is one. All others should be copied.

4. Reboot with the diskette containing the BIOS files in your A drive.

5. The system will come up with the "Flash Memory Update Utility" screen. Press ENTER to continue.

6. Using the down arrow key highlight the option "Update Flash Memory Area From A File". Press ENTER to continue.

7. "Update System BIOS" should be highlighted (if it is not use the arrow keys to highlight it). With "Update System BIOS" highlighted, press ENTER to continue.

8. Press the down arrow key once to highlight the .10 BIOS file in the Files Box. Press ENTER to continue.

9. After a short wait, the "Verify Image" window should appear. "Continue With Programming" should be highlighted. Press ENTER to upgrade.

10. After a short wait, a message window should appear. "Continue" should be highlighted.

11. **Remove the flash disk from the floppy drive and press enter.**

12. Reboot, removing the diskette first.

13. When your system is finished rebooting, double check the CMOS setup to make sure that the settings are correct

FMUP.EXE: FLASH Memory Update Utility Release 3.2

Note: If after flashing your bios, the IDE controller is disabled in CMOS, the nvram needs to be erased. This is done by turning off
the machine, flipping switch 4 in the jumper block behind ISA slot 1 to on,
powering on the machine, powering off the machine after the nvram is
erased, turning the switch off, and powering the machine back on.

This utility is used to save and update FLASH memory. It is recommended
that this utility be executed from a bootable MS-DOS diskette that
contains BIOS recovery files for the target system (i.e. BIOS.REC).

This utility must be executed in a system without memory managers installed.
If EMM386, QEMM, 386MAX, or Windows is active, then the FLASH update
is not safe. Remove any memory manager or exit Windows before executing
the FLASH Memory Update Utility.

SHOWHDR.EXE: This tool is provided to display header information on the
specified FLASH data image.
