Overview
========

This is the P13 BIOS for the Lanai motherboard.


Identification

To identify if this is the correct BIOS update file for your computer, perform the following steps.

If the computer is turned off:

1.  Turn on the computer, and then press the F1 key several times.  The computer enters the BIOS Setup Utility.

2.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, look for the BIOS version line.  It should read SU81010A.15A.00xx.xxx (x = variable characters).

3.  If this is correct, then this is the correct BIOS update for your computer.

If the computer is in Windows:

1.  From the Start menu, click Shut Down.  In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, select Restart, and then click OK.

2.  After the screen turns black, press F1 several times.  The computer enters the BIOS setup Utility.

3.  In the BIOS Setup Utility, look for the BIOS version line.  It should read SU81010A.15A.00xx.xxx (x = variable characters).

4.  If this is correct, then this is the correct BIOS update for your computer.


Installation

Before updating your BIOS, be sure to read the following sections.  

 1.  Preparing your system

 3.  Performing the update

1.  Prepare your computer

Before updating your computer's BIOS, enter the current BIOS Setup Utility, and then write down each of the current settings, in the event that this information is needed again after the upgrade.

This BIOS update loads default settings in all the fields accessible with the BIOS setup utility.  If you made changes to the current BIOS setup fields and wish to retain the settings in those fields, perform the following steps before proceeding with the BIOS update:

 a.  Restart the computer and enter the BIOS Setup Utility by pressing the F1 key.
 b.  Go to the exit menu and select the option Save Custom Defaults.  Execute Save Customer Defaults.
 c.  Select the option Exit Saving Changes and allow the system to restart normally.

2.  Copying the files.

Note: The following instructions may vary dependent upon the operating system currently loaded on the computer.

 a.  After the BIOS update file has been downloaded and then double-clicked on, the files you need are extracted to the folder c:\cabs\7509340.
 b.  On your screen, locate and double-click the My Computer icon.
 c.  In the My Computer window, double-click Local Disk (C:).
 d.  In the Local Disk (C:) window, double-click the Cabs folder.  If you do not see this folder, click View the entire contents of this drive.
 e.  Double click on folder labeled 7509340.
 f.  In the C:\cabs window, from the Edit menu, click Select All.
 g.  In the C:\cabs window, from the Edit menu, click copy.
 h.  Close all windows.
 i.  Insert a blank formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
 j.  On your screen, locate and double-click the My Computer icon.
 k.  In the My Computer window, double-click 3 1/2 Floppy (A:)
 l.  In the A:\ window, from the Edit menu, click Paste.
 m.  The files needed to update the BIOS are copied to the floppy disk.

3.  Performing the update

 a.  Restart the computer with the diskette in the floppy disk drive.
 b.  The BIOS update utility will automatically perform the following steps in sequence:

  i.  Update the boot block portion of the BIOS
  ii.  Update the system BIOS
  iii.  Reset all CMOS settings to default values
  iv.  Restart the computer to activate changes

 c.  Remove the BIOS update disk from the floppy drive after the BIOS update utility restarts the computer.
 d.  The BIOS update process is now complete.  If changes need to be made to any of the BIOS setup fields, restart the computer, and then enter the BIOS Setup Utility to make the necessary adjustments.
 e.  The following procedures are for loading Custom Default Settings.

  i.  Restart the computer and enter the BIOS Setup Utility by pressing the F1 key.
  ii.  Go to the exit menu and select the option Load Custom Defaults. 
  iii.  Select the option Exit Saving Changes and allow the computer to restart.  


Removal

A motherboard must have a BIOS to operate, therefore there is no removal procedure.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
