Overview

This is a BIOS update for the Gateway E-3400 (Corfu) series systems.

Identification

To identify if this is the correct BIOS file for you follow these steps:

System off:
1. Turn it on and start hitting F1 this will make the system inter the BIOS.
2. Once in the BIOS look at the bottom for BIOS version it should read 0AAUOP02, or 0AAUOP04, or 0AAUOP05.
3. If this is correct then you have the correct BIOS update.

System in Windows:
1. Click Start.
2. Click on Shut Down.
3. Make sure that Restart is selected then click OK.
4. As soon as the screen turns black start hitting F1 this will make the system inter the BIOS.
5. Once in the BIOS look at the bottom for BIOS version it should read 0AAUOP02, or 0AAUOP04, or 0AAUOP05.
6. If this is correct then you have the correct BIOS update.

Installation

Before updating your system BIOS be sure to read the following.

1. Preparing your system.
2. Make a blank floppy disk.
3. Copying the files.
4. Performing the update


1. Preparing your system.
 
 Note:  Before you update your BIOS you should enter the current BIOS and write down the settings.
 
2. Before you can update your BIOS, you must first prepare a disk.

a. Windows 9X, insert the floppy into the A drive.
b. Double click My Computer.
c. Right Click once on the 3 ½ Floppy (A:) icon and select Format.
d. Under Format Type select Full, then press the Start button.
e. When the format is complete a Format Results box will appear, press Close.
f. Press Close to exit the Format window.


1. Copying the files

a. Create a BIOS directory on your hard drive, and copy the BIOS file to that directory.
b. Double Click on the file to expand it.
c. Copy all of the files EXCEPT the 7510555.exe file to your diskette.
d. The disk is now ready.


1. Performing the update

a. Reboot the computer with the diskette in the A:\ drive.
b. The BIOS updated will begin automatically and not require any user actions.  This can be verified by the text on the screen.  The screen will display a line as follows:

 Erasing...0x000....
 
c. The AMI Firmware Update Utility will erase a specific memory areas and rewrite the new code to those addresses and verify completion.
d. When that process has completed the system will return to an A:/ prompt.
e. Remove the floppy disk from the A: drive and restart the computer.
f. During the reboot it may give you a BIOS configuration error.  Press F1 to enter BIOS.
g. Once in the BIOS Press F10 then Press ENTER to save and exit.
h. BIOS flash complete.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
