This Readme file describes the contents of the Fujitsu Universal LAN Hub
CD-ROM.The CD-ROM consists of the following directories (folders):


\ENGLISH - Fujitsu Universal LAN Hub driver software for US English (ONLY)
versions of Microsoft (R) Windows 98 Gold (4.10.1998). 

\GERMAN  - Fujitsu Universal LAN Hub driver software for GERMAN versions
of Microsoft (R) Windows 98 Gold (4.10.1998).

\JAPANESE - Fujitsu Universal LAN Hub driver software for JAPANESE (non NEC)
versions of Microsoft (R) Windows 98 Gold (4.10.1998).

IMPORTANT:
==========
1. For Microsoft (R) Windows 98 Second Edition (4.10.2222A)
please use the \ENGLISH directory as the DEFAULT source path (location)
for the driver files.

2. If you DO NOT have an Ethernet connection to a LAN,
it is RECOMMENDED that you disable the Fujitsu USB to Ethernet Adapter,
AFTER following the first-time use steps as described in the Fujitsu
Universal LAN Hub User's Guide.

I.> To disable the Fujitsu USB to Ethernet Adapter:
====================================================

1. Start with a right mouse button click on the "My Computer" icon.
2. With the left mouse button, select "Properties", then the "Device Manager"
   Tab.
3. Select "Network Adapters" and double click on it using the left mouse
   button.
4. Select the "Fujitsu USB to Ethernet Adapter" and double click on it using
   the left mouse button.
5. Under Device usage, select the disable in this hardware profile checkbox.
6. Hit OK.
7. You should now be able to see a red cross next to the "Fujitsu USB to
   Ethernet Adapter". This means that you have successfully disabled this
   device.
8. Close device manager.
9. It is RECOMMENDED that you reboot your system after this.

II.> To enable the Fujitsu USB to Ethernet Adapter:
====================================================

1. To enable the "Fujitsu USB to Ethernet Adapter", please follow the same
sequence (1-4) as described above.
2. In step 5. DESELECT the disable in this hardware profile checkbox.
3. Hit OK.
4. You should now NOT see any red cross next to the Fujitsu USB to Ethernet
   Adapter. This means that you have successfully enabled this device.
5. Close the device manager.
6. It is recommended that you reboot your system after this.

INSTALLATION & GENERAL NOTES
=============================
1. There is no need to run any setup.exe program to install the Fujitsu
   Universal LAN Hub driver software. When Windows 98 Add New Hardware
   Wizard prompts you for the drivers, please select the check box to instruct
   the wizard only "to specify a location" (for the driver on the CD drive),
   then select BROWSE. Select the language folder on the CD for the
   appropriate operating system locale.

   For example: Select \ENGLISH for U.S. English versions of Windows 98 Gold.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
