The Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility should be installed on the system after Windows XP has been installed. 2. Double-click on the self-extracting and self-installing setup file and answer all prompts presented. 3. If you are installing the operating system onto a RAID volume, you must pre-install the RAID driver using the F6 method described in section 4.2. Note: By default, all general files (README.TXT, etc.) are copied to the path <bootdrive>:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Application Accelerator 4.1 INSTALLSHIELD* (AUTOMATED) INSTALL FROM HARD DRIVE OR CD-ROM 1. Download the Intel(R) Application Accelerator RAID Edition setup file and double-click to self-extract and to begin the setup process. 2. The Welcome window appears. Click on the Next button to continue. 3. The Software License Agreement window appears. If you agree to these terms, click on the Yes button to continue 4. The Choose Destination Location windows appears. Click on the Next button to continue. 5. The Select Program Folder window appears. Click on the Next button and the driver begins to install. 6. If the InstallShield(R) Wizard Complete window is shown without a prompt to restart the system, click the Finish button and proceed to step 7. If it is shown with a prompt to restart the system, click ‘Yes, I want to restart my computer now.’ (the default) and click the Finish button. Once the system has restarted, proceed to step 7. 7. To verify if the driver has been loaded correctly, refer to Section 5. 4.2 PREINSTALLATION USING THE F6 METHOD FROM A FLOPPY DISK 1. Extract all driver files from the installation package. See Section 6 for instructions on extracting the files. 2. Create a floppy containing the iaStor.inf, iaStor.sys, iaStor.cat and TxtSetup.oem files in the root directory. 3. At the beginning of the operating system setup, press F6 to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver. 4. When prompted, select 'S' to Specify Additional Device. 5. When prompted, insert the floppy disk you created and press enter. 6. At this point you should be presented with a selection for "Intel(R) RAID Controller". Highlight this selection and press enter. 7. Press enter again to continue. Leave the floppy disk in the system until the next reboot as the software will need to be copied from the floppy disk again when setup is copying files. ************************************************************ * 5. VERIFYING INSTALLATION OF THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ Use the following steps to verify installation of the Software if installed via Have Disk, F6 or unattended installation methods. * Run 'Start' then 'Control Panel' * Double-click 'System' Control Panel Application * Select the 'Hardware' tab * Select 'Device Manager' button * Expand the 'SCSI and RAID Controllers' entry * Right-click on the 'Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller' * Select 'Properties' * Select the 'Driver' tab * Select the 'Driver Details' button * 'iaStor.SYS' should be displayed Use the following steps to verify installation of the Software if installed via InstallShield or PFW installation methods. * Run 'Start' * Find the 'Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition' program group * Select the ‘Intel Application Accelerator’ item * The Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition application should be shown ************************************************************ * 6. ADVANCED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ************************************************************ The following SETUP flags are available: -? Help information for the setup flags (shown below) -S Silent install (no user prompts) -B Forces a system reboot after installation -P <path> Supplies target installation path -A Extracts all driver files (does not install driver) to <path> if -P is also supplied, or the default directory otherwise -N Install all components except driver -NoGUI Install only the driver -O <name> Supplies target Start Menu Program Folder name if installing Companion applet -L<lang code> Forces a particular language install (See Section 3 for a table mapping <lang code> to language). There cannot be a space between –L and <lang code> -build Display build info -f2<path\name> Creates a log file in <existing path> with <name>; this is to be used during silent installation. There cannot be a space between -F2 and <path\name> and the path must exist prior to installation Notes: Flags and their parameters are not case-sensitive. Flags may be supplied in any order, with the exception of the -S and -L flags which must be supplied last. When using the -A flag, a target path may be specified via the -P flag, and the -O, -L, -S, and -N flags are ignored. When using the -P or -O flags, a space is required between the flag and the argument; when using -L and -f2, however, there should be no space. When using the -f2 flag, a log file name and path must be specified, and the path must exist prior to the installation. *** Use one of the following command examples to extract the driver files from the different packages: c:\iata_cd.exe -a -a -p c:\<path> c:\iata_enu.exe -a -a -p c:\<path> c:\setup.exe -a -p c:\<path> When run, the installation process begins; simply click through the dialogs accordingly. This will not install the driver, it will only extract the driver files to <path>. Once the extraction is completed, the driver files can be found in <path>\Driver. To install the RAID driver as outlined in the Microsoft* document, "Deployment Guide Automating Windows NT Setup," use the supplied TXTSETUP.OEM file included in this package and insert the lines below into the UNATTEND.TXT file. This method is available for Microsoft* Windows* XP. For Windows XP, the iaStor.inf, iaStor.sys, iaStor.cat, and Txtsetup.oem files need to be extracted. To extract these files, use the method described in this section. Microsoft Windows XP: // Insert the lines below into the UNATTEND.TXT file [MassStorageDrivers] "Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller" = OEM [OEMBootFiles] iaStor.inf iaStor.sys iaStor.cat Txtsetup.oem ************************************************************ * 7. IDENTIFYING THE SOFTWARE VERSION NUMBER ************************************************************ Use the following steps to identify the software version number following a Have Disk, F6 or unattended installation * Run 'Start' then 'Control Panel' * Double-click 'System' Control Panel Application * Select the 'Hardware' tab * Select 'Device Manager' button * Expand the 'SCSI and RAID Controllers' entry * Right-click on the 'Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller' * Select 'Properties' * Select the 'Driver' tab * The software version should be displayed after 'Driver Version:' Use the following steps to identify the Software version number if installed via InstallShield or PFW installation methods. * Run 'Start' * Find the 'Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition' program group * Select the ‘Intel Application Accelerator’ item * The Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition application should be shown, with the version shown in the splash screen. It can also be viewed by selecting the Help, About menu item in the application. ************************************************************ * 8. UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ NOTE: This procedure assumes that the above installation process was successful. This un-installation procedure is specific only to this version of the software and installation file included in this package. * Uninstallation of this software would render all data on any existing RAID Volumes inaccessible and therefore it cannot be uninstalled. Please consult the user guide for instructions on how to delete the RAID volume or disable the Intel 82801ER SATA RAID Controller. It is recommended that any RAID volume be deleted before disabling the Intel 82801ER SATA RAID Controller. Disabling the Intel 82801ER SATA RAID Controller would re-enable the SATA controller and the operating system would no longer use the Intel(R) Application Accelerator RAID Edition driver. ************************************************************ * DISCLAIMER ************************************************************ Information in this document is provided in connection with Intel products.
