1. Installation
This driver is for exclusive use with Windows 2000/XP. 
Please note that this driver will not run on any other OS.
Standard setup will only run on Windows 2000/XP.
Setup cannot be conducted from other OS.

1.1 Standard Installation
Run Setup.exe and install KTP Ware

1.2 Installation from "Device Manager".
Installation can be done from the Device Manager without running Setup.exe.
However, system will not have a copy of Readme file through this installation.
For installation from the Device Manager, follow the steps below.

Steps for Windows XP:
1) Click the "Start" button on the Windows desktop.
2) Click "Settings".
3) Click "Control Panel".
4) Double click the "System" icon in the "Control Panel".
5) Select the "Hardware" tab in "System Properties".
6) Click the "Device Manager" button.
7) Double click the "Mice and other pointing devices" icon in "Device Manager".
8) Double click the mouse icon such as "PS/2 Compatible Mouse".
9) Select the "Driver" tab in "Mouse Properties".
10) Click the "Update driver..." button.
11) Click the radio button next to "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)" 
    in "Hardware Update Wizard".
12) Click the "Next>" button.
13) Click the radio button next to "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."
14) Click the "Next>" button.
15) Click the "Have Disk..." button.
16) Click the "Browse..." button in "Install From Disk".
17) Change to the directory where the driver is located and click "ktp.inf" in "Locate File", 
    and then click the "Open" button.
18) Click the "OK" button in "Install From Disk".
19) Select "Elantech TouchPad" in "Model" and click the "Next>" button.
20) If "Hardware Installation "(driver warning) was shown, click the "Continue Anyway" button.
21) The specified mouse driver will be installed in the computer.
22) Click the "Finish" button in "Hardware Update Wizard".
23) Click the "Close" button in "Mouse Properties".
24) When asked to restart in "System Settings Change" click the "Yes" button and restart the system.

Steps for Windows 2000:
1) Click the "Start" button on the Windows desktop.
2) Click "Settings".
3) Click "Control Panel".
4) Double click the "System" icon in the "Control Panel".
5) Select the "Hardware" tab in "System Properties".
6) Click the "Device Manager" button.
7) Double click the "Mice and other pointing devices" icon in "Device Manager".
8) Double click the mouse icon such as "PS/2 Compatible Mouse".
9) Select the "Driver" tab in "Mouse Properties".
10) Click the "Update driver..." button.
11) Click the "Next>" button.
12) Click the radio button next to "Display a list of the known drivers for this device 
    so that I can choose a specific driver" in "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard".
13) Click the "Next>" button.
14) Click the "Have Disk..." button.
15) Click the "Browse..." button in "Install From Disk".
16) Change to the directory where the driver is located and click "ktp.inf" in "Locate File", 
    and then click the "Open" button.
17) Click the "OK" button in "Install From Disk".
18) Select "Elantech TouchPad" in "Model" and click the "Next>" button twice.
19) If "Digital Signature Not Found"(driver warning) was shown, click the "Yes" button.
20) The specified mouse driver will be installed in the computer.
21) Click the "Finish" button in "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard".
22) Click the "Close" button in "Mouse Properties".
23) When asked to restart in "System Settings Change" click the "Yes" button and restart the system.

2. Uninstall (Total Deletion)
1) Click the "Start" button on the Windows desktop.
2) Click the "Control Panel".
3) Double click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon inside the "Control Panel".
4) Select "KTP Ware PS2-WDM 5.0.0.0" and click the "Change/Remove" button.
5) When asked to delete it or not in "Confirm File Deletion"  Click "OK" button.
6) When asked to restart or not in "Uninstall completed"  Click "OK" button and restart the system.

3. Notes
This heading is for items requiring caution.

3.1 External Mouse Connection
This heading handles restrictions when connecting mouse to PS/2 port or USB port.

3.1.1 InteliMouse Explorer Connection
When using InteliMouse Explorer, connect it to the USB port.  
If it is connected to the PS/2 port using a PS/2 conversion connector, 
the mouse operations may not execute properly, depending on the set conditions.  
The operation from a mouse connected to the USB port will be standard.  
(Some functions assigned to buttons in "Mouse Properties" may not be active.)

3.1.2 USB Port Connection
The operation from a mouse connected to a USB port will be standard.
(Some functions assigned to buttons in "Mouse Properties" may not be active)

3.1.3 External Mouse Operation (When PS/2 Port is Connected)
(1) From the activation of PC till the start of operation from the external mouse, 
    any operation is made via internal touchpad mode ("Mouse Properties" will also 
    show the touchpad properties). Touchpad mode may be canceled by moving the external mouse 
    ("Mouse Properties" will also switch to the standard).

(2) Read the following if your model has both pointing stick and touchpad.

Operation when set to "Stick only":
Operation from external mouse cannot be conducted when set to "Stick only" 
(Only operation from Stick is possible).  To operate from external mouse, 
you need to reset to "Touchpad only" or "Both".

How to setup:
1) Double click "Mouse" icon stored in task tray.
2) Select "Quick Setup" tab in "Mouse Properties".
3) Click the radio button next to "Touchpad only" or "Both" in "Pointing Device Enable function".
4) Click the "Apply" button.
5) Click the "OK" button.

3.2 Zoom in / Zoom out Function
If zoom in / Zoom out were registered with assigning button functions, 
some applications may act in the following manner.

In Word/Excel
Zoom in function: Magnifies each page
Zoom out function: Reduces each page

In Internet Explorer (IE)
Zoom in function: Reduce font
Zoom out function: Magnifies font

This phenomenon is caused by the application's specifications.

3.3 Actions when check on Fast Initialization is removed
If check on Fast Initialization is removed, some functions of touchpad will not be active.

How to setup Fast Initialization:
1) Double click "Mouse" icon stored in task tray.
2) Select "Hardware" tab in "Mouse Properties".
3) Click "Properties" button.
4) Select "Advanced Settings" tab in "Elantech TouchPad Properties".
5) Click the check box next to "Fast Initialization" (Check the box).
6) When asked to restart in "System Settings Change" click the "Yes" button and restart the system.

3.4 Screen array (Resolution)
Bottom part of Mouse Properties will not be shown when screen array (resolution) is 
set to 640 x 480 pixels.  Please set to 800 x 600 pixels or more.

3.5 Drag Lock Operation
Read the following if your model has both pointing stick and touchpad.

Drag lock operation:
Drag lock may be canceled if pointing stick is touched during the drag lock.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
