Add Details to Support the Topic

You have practiced writing paragraphs with good topic sentences. In this file you will practice adding supporting detail sentences to paragraphs.

Supporting detail sentences expand on the topic of the paragraph. A paragraph may have one or several supporting detail sentences.

Remember, a paragraph has one main idea. All details in the paragraph should support the main idea.

Below is a topic sentence containing the main idea, plus a bank of detail sentences. Delete the detail sentences that do not support the main idea of the paragraph.
