Tired Words

The following paragraph contains many "tired words" enclosed in < > angle brackets. These are words that are used too often in speaking and writing. They are vague and boring.

Delete the tired words and replace them with more interesting and specific words or phrases of your own. If you need to, you may also replace other words in the paragraph to make your new words fit smoothly.

====================

Last weekend I went with <some kids> to this <really neat> park. There was <a lot of> <super> <stuff> there. There was a <wonderful> water slide, a <great big> seesaw, a <pretty good> jungle gym, and other <nice, interesting things>.

This <really> smart kid climbed to the top of the jungle gym and then climbed down again. He said it was <hard> to do. "You're too little," he said. "You should play in the <nice> sandbox."

I told him that was a <dumb> idea. The sandbox was <boring>. Then I had a <good> idea. "I'll race you to the top of the jungle gym."

He looked at me kind of funny and said, "<Okay>."

We started to climb the bars and I won! "Well," I said, after he reached the top, "that's the most <fun> <thing> I've done in a long time."
