Keeping Things in Order

The sentences in a paragraph should usually be written in the order in which the events happen.

In the following paragraph, the sentences are not arranged in the correct order. Read the paragraph and see if you can figure out how the sentences should be rearranged.

Cleaning My Room

On the day after tomorrow I will clean the drawers. Today I will put away all my old toys and books. I will have to spend at least three days of my summer vacation cleaning my room. After my room is clean, I will invite Andy to stay for a weekend. Tomorrow I will straighten my desk and bookshelves.

Errands

My last stop will be at the bakery, so I don't crush the bread for supper tonight.

It looks like my entire Saturday morning will be spent running errands.

Well, I think I can do it, and I'll sure be ready for the beach when I finish!

I really will have to plan my errands carefully in order to finish before one o'clock.

The library opens at 8:00 a.m., so I'll go there first and drop off the books.

Reggie invited me to go to the beach, but his parents want to leave by one o'clock.

Then I have to drop off candy orders to three families that live all the way across town.

She's sure to invite me in for some of her wonderful chocolate chip cookies, but I'll have to say no.

If I pedal fast, I can get to the post office before it closes at noon and mail Grandma's birthday package.

Mrs. Swenson lives next to the library, so I'll go there next and pick up the bars for the candy drive.
