Name: < > Class: < > Date: < > Topic Sentences A topic sentence expresses the main idea in the paragraph. A well-written topic sentence gets your paragraph off to a good start. The topic sentence should not be too broad or too narrow. A broad topic sentence makes it hard to limit supporting details to one paragraph. A narrow topic sentence "says it all," so it is unnecessary to write anything more. Here are example topic sentences for a paragraph entitled, "How to Clean My Room." Too Broad: "Cleaning is difficult." Too Narrow: "I never have to clean my room." Just Right: "Every Saturday morning I gather dust rags, cleaning sprays, the vacuum cleaner, and a shovel and begin to clean my room." This "Just Right" topic sentence leads naturally into a paragraph describing how each tool is used to clean the room. Here are several titles for paragraphs. If you are working with a partner, have your partner read your sentences. Are they too broad, too narrow, or just right? Rewrite them if necessary. ==================== How to Do It Paragraph Choose one of your topic sentences and write a complete paragraph using that sentence. Include all of the steps needed to describe "how to do" the process you chose. Be sure you write the steps in the order they should be done. Use order words to help make the directions clear. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
