Winter Chant/Acrostic

A chant repeats words in a line across the page. An acrostic puts words in a line down the page! Put the two together to make a chant/acrostic poem about winter.

Build a winter chant/acrostic by thinking first of a winter subject. Then, think again! What is the first word that comes to mind about the subject.

Suppose the subject is winter weather. Your word might be snow. The letters of snow are typed going down:

S
N
O
W

Build a snow chant!

S now, snow, snow
N ow, now, now,
O utside my window
W inter white! Wow!

Or, suppose the subject is Valentine's Day, February 14. The first word that comes to mind is candy. The letters of candy are typed going down:

C
A
N
D
Y

Here's a Valentine chant:

C andy, candy, candy
A Valentine treat!
N utty fudgy goo
D entists don't eat,
Y ou and me do!

It's easy!

Think of your own winter subject or use one of these:

Skiing
Christmas
Hockey
Holiday
Winter
Mittens
Indoors
Weather

Type the letters of a word that comes to mind going "down." Then, make your own chant pattern or follow the one in the Valentine chant.
