Read the poems and think about simple, playful themes. Notice how the authors let your mind wonder, observe, and be silly. I Hate Poems Poems, poems. I hate poems. They make me feel like being a book just closed up all locked up with not a rhyme in my mind. Like a king without a queen. by Lester Monzon, grade 6 ------------------------------------- Silent Meeting I saw a little girl looking at me. Then I looked at her. But then she smiled at me. So I did too. Then her mother came and took her. She waved bye and I did too. ------------------------------------- Beach Wish The hot sands at the beach Will soon be covered with running feet and eager children; The sun so hot colliding with the sea; The waves come in and sweep me away. Too bad I can't be at the beach today. ------------------------------------- My Sister She likes to untie and tie her shoes. Who? you ask. My sister. She is a straight A student. But she is weird. Now I look at her. She has a broken back from bending down to tie and untie her shoes. She also likes to eat rocks and dirt. That's why her teeth are all cruddy. "The Witch Who Loved to Destroy" is a good book she wrote. The witch is very horrible. She ties and unties her shoes. Then she stomps on people. ------------------------------------- The Moon When I look At the moon, I think it is The eye Of a black cat. ------------------------------------- Rainbow The corridor to color So fresh, light, and rare. Rainbows lighten up the air. ------------------------------------- Daydreaming I'm gazing listlessly, staring straight in front of me. Today is a free day, but I don't want to play. I have my eyes open, but I only hear myself. I'm dreaming about fairytales, princes, princesses, queens and kings I wake up and tell my friend about what I dreamed but she doesn't hear 'cause she's daydreaming now. ------------------------------------- Alone in My Room It's pitch dark and I have nothing to do but lie in my bed and stare at the ceiling with the soft music on very low as I feel the breeze blow the papers off my desk and suddenly I hear footsteps coming up the stairs the door slowly opens and in jumps my little brother and tells me to turn off the lights and go to bed. ------------------------------------- Arithmetic by Carl Sandburg Arithmetic is where numbers fly like pigeons in and out of your head. Arithmetic tells you how many you lose or win if you know how many you had before you lost or won. Arithmetic is seven eleven all good children go to heaven -- or five six bundle of sticks. Arithmetic is numbers you squeeze from your head to your hand to your pencil to your paper till you get the answer. Arithmetic is where the answer is right and everything is nice and you can look out of the window and see the blue sky -- or the answer is wrong and you have to start all over and try again and see how it comes out this time. If you take a number and double it and double it again and then double it a few more times, the number gets bigger and bigger and goes higher and higher and only arithmetic can tell you what the number is when you decide to quit doubling. Arithmetic is where you have to multiply -- and you carry the multiplication table in your head and hope you won't lose it. If you have two animal crackers, one good and one bad, and you eat one and a striped zebra with streaks all over him eats the other, how many animal crackers will you have if somebody offers you five six seven and you say No no no and you say Nay nay nay and you say Nix nix nix? If you ask your mother for one fried egg for breakfast and she gives you two fried eggs and you eat both of them who is better in arithmetic, you or your mother? ------------------------------------- Winds on the beach whistle through the ears of people on the pier. If you listen closely you could hear the swishing splashing roaring Of waves wide awake. ------------------------------------- The Sun is a Leaping Fire by Lupe Galvez, grade 5 The sun is a leaping fire too hot to go near But it will still lie down in warm yellow squares on the floor like a flat quilt where the cat can curl and purr. An image in a poem is a picture drawn by the words. For instance, in the poem about the moon, "the eye of a black cat" is an image. Choose the three images you liked most from the poems above and copy them below. Then explain what you like about them. < > Name and save this file now. Take a minute, close your eyes, and see what image comes. Then write the first line of your poem. Watch the image by rereading the first line and visualizing what the words say. What comes next? Write your next line... and continue until you've written a free verse poem. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
