Separating Sentences

Reading is easier when we group related sentences into paragraphs. Capital letters and punctuation marks show where sentences start and stop.

In the paragraphs below, the punctuation and capital letters have been left out. Separate the sentences by adding punctuation marks and capital letters.

Separate Three Sentences:  Use periods and capital letters between sentences.

Tanya Smith is a bubbly, busy sixth grader she has curly hair, and her eyes twinkle when she smiles she would like to be a lawyer some day

Separate Four Sentences:  Use periods and capital letters between sentences.

a small gray monkey scampers among the top branches of the trees, high above the jungle floor disturbed by the bouncing branches, birds scream at the monkey, and flying squirrels scold it for playing too near their nests coming upon a gap in the trees where a stream cuts through the jungle, the monkey pauses then it wraps its tail around a thick vine and swings gracefully across the water to the trees on the other side

in the late 1800s, two brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, worked together in their bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio they became interested in flying and started to build gliders they built their first airplane in 1903 and tested it at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina this plane was not like the ones we know today it had wooden wings covered with cloth, and the pilot had to lie down in the middle of the lower wing to drive the plane
