Character Reactions


Interaction! We do a lot of interacting with others at home, school, work, and play. Story characters, too, participate in a flow of interactions. We might think of this flow of interactions as cause and effect.

In this file, you will sketch a character to reveal his or her leading quality as shown by the character's own actions and reactions. We'll make good use of a form called "internal monologue" to reveal what goes on inside the character's head in reaction to something happening on the outside.

Prewrite


Read, then answer questions about the following character sketch.

Can't! thought Rubyianna. Can't go. Biggest dance of the year and Mom says, "Rubyianna, you can't go and that's final!" Her green eyes flashed and her long, copper-red hair threw electric sparks from the vigor with which she brushed.

Not a wisp of a curl in her flowing mane! Straight, was how she liked it. Straight and simple. Don't like those giggly curly mops Cindy and Ruth got.

It's my hair and I'll wear it the way I want! she shouted at the face reflected in the mirror. She eased in closer and stiffened. Pimples! An eruption of tiny pink blotches hid under her firm, determined mouth. A tear slid from the corner of her eye. Good, she thought. Hope I get a whole face full, a whole body full! I'd rather everyone thinks I can't go to the dance because I've got measles!

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
