Name: < > Class: < > Date: < > Stranger in the Park The basis of any character sketch is to show one or two "particular" qualities or characteristics, ones that reveal the person from your perspective. Read the scenes below before you begin to write about your "Stranger in the Park." Scene 1: Sticking out beneath the swaying branches of a huge willow tree, you see two feet. A closer look shows a pair of jeans, a sweat shirt, a chin. That's all you can see! Scene 2: You open your umbrella as a light rain starts. You watch raindrops slither down the willow branches onto the figure lying there. One foot moves slightly, then the other. Slowly, the figure sits up and stretches. Scene 3: The rain comes harder and the wind picks up. You begin to walk on, but keep one eye on the figure, sitting with face raised upward, seeming to enjoy the rain shower. =================== You and "Your" Character... The Stranger in the Park Part I Reread scenes 1, 2, and 3 to help you imagine the physical appearance of the stranger in the park. Write a short description of dress and outward appearance. Decide the sex of the stranger so you can use the pronoun "he" or "she." < > Name and save this file now. Then expand them into phrases or sentences describing the actions of the stranger in the park. < > =================== Part III Below is a word bank of characteristics. Delete all words that you are certain don't describe the character you are creating. Then add any additional descriptive words that come to mind. aggressive helpful positive alert irritable quarrelsome bored jealous relaxed casual kind stubborn determined lazy tired enthusiastic morbid vital fearful nonchalant watchful gentle opinionated joyful < > Part IV By now, you know the appearance and something about the behavior of how your "Stranger in the Park." Perhaps you also know how the character speaks and reacts. Use a single quality or characteristic as the focus of the sketch. The quality you select may be stated outright, or you may imply, or suggest, the quality without using the word itself. Without paying attention to spelling, punctuation, etc., quickly note your ideas in a Quick Write of your ... Stranger in the Park < > =================== Part V Write Scene 4! Show what happens in the park in a short paragraph. Will your character get up, speak, see you? Maybe not. Will someone else react to your character? Will you? Maybe not. You may want to copy some of your writing from Part I through IV and rewrite it so it fits into Scene IV. Whatever happens, write to support the quality you've chosen to characterize your "Stranger in the Park." Scene IV < > =================== Peer Exchange Exchange character sketches with a writing partner. Compare the characteristic or quality each of you chose for your "Stranger in the Park." Discuss the details of appearance, action, behavior, and speech. Do they support the stranger's leading characteristic? Based on what you learn from your discussion with your writing partner, revise and edit your work. You may want to print just your sketch for this purpose. If you haven't done so already, name and save this file now. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
