Time Ordering


One way to organize information is according to date or time. This method is called chronological order. In a history text, for example, you are likely to find the story of the explorations of Marco Polo (c.1254-c.1324) before those of Christopher Columbus (c.1451-c.1506).

Dates and times are not always stated when information is organized in chronological order. Other kinds of transition words take us from one event to the next. Here are some sample transitions:
